T Stands for Too Busy!

I have gotten myself involved in so many different things!  I am taking a college Senior Writing class in the month of October.  My homework is 6000 words within two weeks, and then the last two weeks we will critique each others work.  EEK!!!!!   I am  getting ready to purge some of my craft items at a local craft store garage sale, also in October.  I am pricing things so I can take them in to the sale by this Saturday.   After a trip to the dermatologist today and my walk,  I prepared for mailing  many cards that have to go out in October.  There is no  mail today as it is Columbus Day here in the states, a federal, postal and bank holiday, that we still celebrate, even though we now know Columbus didn't discover America!  Regardless,  I have my mail ready to go out tomorrow. 

I did find some time to craft this past week, and will share the  following cards that I did  for challenges on SplitcoastStampers:


I did this one for several challenges, for the Stamp2Spend Challenge to use a bear on our card because October 3rd was Take Your Teddy Bear to Work Day.  Did you know that, Anne?
It was also for the October Christmas Card Challenge to use mostly white on your card.  Well, I tried, and didn't color it all in.  It was also for the Alpha Challenge for "I" this week.  I used Island Indigo card stock and ink.  I also did this for the smooth and rough Ways to Use It challenge. I used chunky glitter by Fun Stampers Journey on the bear's hat and the smooth was the glossy accents on the berry and the ribbon on the gift.  The  technique for the background panel  was to run the ink pad over the raised parts of the embossing folder before running it through to emboss the white  panel.  I thought it was a good way to make my own background, since I didn't have any Indigo Island DSP. 

I was inspired for this card by an inspiration challenge given of SplitcoastStampers.  One of the pictures was of a Mermaid, and of course that is what inspired me.  I actually made this at my retreat.
I happened to have this stamp with me.  The background was made by putting oxide inks on my mat by just putting the inkpad on it, and then smooshing the glossy cardstock in the inks.  I had this frame with me and decided to frame my mermaid which I stamped, colored with Copics and fussy cut. I also used Wink of Stella on the mermaid.  I added sequins and the die cut Happy Birthday.  The frame is made by using two Wonky square die cuts together. 

 I love how my hair stylist decorates inside and outside.  I ask her last month if I could take photos and share them with you on my blog, and she said that it was alright.  So, I will show you September's, and then last week's as she had changed to Fall decorations.

  Don't you just love how she decorates!  She just has just a flare for decorating. Every time I go she has changed it for a new season!  When I go in November, it will be Thanksgiving, and of course in December,  Christmas.  I think it is a full time job, because she does the same inside.

T Stands For Tuesday and Tea Cup

Our memory verse for Bible study last night:  II Cor 3:18 "But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the spirit of the Lord."

I am late to the Tea Party as I am trying to catch up from being out of town for four days at a scrap retreat!  I got lots of layouts done, and even  card, and worked on Christmas gifts, too.  Now, I am trying to unpack all of my craft items and sort them back into place!  Last night I went to our ladies Bible Study potluck, and there I received a gift of this beautiful tea cup from my secret prayer sister.

So fun!  It came with a lid and a diffuser.   Isn't it beautiful?

I don't know why it is called Wall Park.  It is a nice park, 60 acres of excercie trails, tennis courts, handball courts, ball fields, playgrounds, a skate park with a four acre lake.  By  the time we walked over to it and along the creek and around the small lake, and back to the house, we had walked well over three miles and for over an hour.  Then we got back to scrapping.  A nice break!

Second on the 2nd October 2, 2013

Proverbs 21:1 "The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water:  he turneth it wheresoever he will."  A verse that touched my heart in devotions today.


I couldn't believe it, but back in October in 2013, I posted on Wednesday October 2.  So, of course that is the post I will share with you today for the Second on the 2nd, as I will join Elizabeth over at Altered Book Lover.

WOYWW 226 White Washing and Angel Tag

    Happy WOYWW!  Don't know what WOYWW is?  Check it out at Julia's Stamping Ground.
 This is what my area looks like right now.  I just finished a card for Teapot Tuesday on Splitcoast Stamper, using White Wash technique.  Earlier this week I made a tag for one of our challenges using paints, and all kinds of other mediums. really an experiment for me!  So evidence of that is still on my blotter.  Also, a fall card failure using paints is laying there to be discarded.  An alphabet die with paint on it is the remains of a scrapbook page I did earlier.
     Also, see the cute little criss-cross shelf I picked up for $2.00 at a garage sale?  I haven't decided how to use it yet.  It came with all the spice jars that fit in there too.  So, a project! :)  Oh, and see the baggie of goodies one of my blogger friends sent me from ScrapFest?  Now, I can eat the goodies, and use the items in the bag.  I just wanted to show you how cutely packaged it was.

T Stands for Time for Scrapbook Retreat Again!

I had a busy week last week and another coming up.  Almost forgot it is time to post for TSFT!  I love to join the tea party every week, but it sure comes around quickly!

I played with my Gelle plate back in August making prints with 3-d objects, instead of stencils.  Not pictured are some prints I made with a golf ball! LOL  I thought I had a photo, but can't find it.  You just put acrylic paint on your plate and then make a pattern randomly with an object. Then put your paper on for prints.  I love doing this!  I get many great backgrounds!  

So here s a card I made with the print on which I used the golf ball.  I thought it was so pretty I didn't want to cover it up!  I used a Downton Abby frame die on it, and then added a Happy Birthday 
die cut on it.  I tried to match the cardstock to the paint used.  The cardstock is Kiwi Kiss and Bermuda Bay from Stampin' Up and the the white base is from Michaels, 110 lb. Recollections White.

I have been packing up for another Scrapbook Retreat this week-end to a town near here, but far enough away to be getting a way! :)  Thursday thru Sunday.  I am taking several projects to work on; Christmas gifts, Scrapbook, and maybe some cards, too.
What is nice about the getaway, is our hostess prepares all the meals!  All I have to do is visit with the other 11 participants, craft, go walking if I want!  Very nice!  And I usually come back with lots of finished projects, too.  

I have packed up my craft items, and my cup too.  4 bags, my ikea tray and what is on it.
Then, a small bag of clothes, another tv tray, oh, and my laptop, phones, iPad, camera, a bag of snacks, night clock, fan, my electric tea kettle,  oh, my goodness, the list goes on and on.
When I leave, my car will be full!  You would think I was moving!  But when I get there, I am always amazed that others take at least 4 times more than I take.  I mean some even take extra tables!  You just want to make sure you have what you need, when you need it.  Oh, and sometimes we even make Walmart runs for something we ran out of , or Walgreens to print photos.  I have mine printed, but if I need another one or two, I have my Cannon Selphy printer, which I didn't list above! LOL   Let's join Elizabeth over at Altered Book Lover for T Stands For Tuesday.  Or almost! ;)

T Stands For Time Going Too Quickly!

How does, TSFT  come so quickly every week?  I am not ready!  In fact I have spent my morning, after my 3 mile walk, ( it was a most gorgeous morning) looking first for  my driver's license and next, directions to a friend's house.
After at least an hour, the second time through my purse, I found the driver's license right where it was supposed to be, only stuck to the back of my Kohl's card.  After, at least a couple more hours, I found the directions, in my address book ( right where they s/b)!  By now, I thought I was doing pretty good: walk, breakfast, (baked oatmeal & cinnamon toast at hubby's request), found two supposedly lost items.
Then I remembered, my blog post was not ready!  So, appropriately, here I sit with my cup of Lemon lift tea, trying to remember what I did this week, that I can show you. I played with a  Gelli plate print and took some photo of it and the card I made with it, and already mailed. I think she should have it by now, in case she stops in.

1. Die cut a mask of a shape you want to use.
2. Lay it over a gel print.  I used one on which I had done with several different stencils.
3. Paint with drk color acrylic paint over the whole thing.
4. Remove mask.
5. Cut panel and make card.
6. I also, now have a navy dragonfly to use.
I think it is pretty the way the gel print shows through the wings of the dragonfly. 

 If you go to the Mix ability challenge on SCS on my sidebar you can find a tutorial for this by Understand Blue for what she calls Faux Reductive Technique.

Here I cut it down and put on a white card base (Recollections 110 lb) and added a die cut Happy Birthday, which was gifted me.  I don't actually have the die, but a friend sent me some.

That is what I did last  week as far as being crafty. I forgot to show photos of my anniversary from the third.  We went out to eat at one of our favorite comfort food places, and also visited a Vets Memorial Walk.  I think my camera quit working, because I can't find the photos I took!  But here is one I took at home of my anniversary roses, my hubby surprised me with a few days before.  There were twelve, but by the time I took this, some were gone.  Evidently, red ones don't last as long as the peach, yellow, and pink, because they are the ones that drooped first.

T Stands For Stencil Smooshing Technique!

Today, I have been playing with an acrylic paint technique and an  oxide inks technique.  I will show you the one with the oxide inks.  This was done for our Try a New Technique Challenge on SplitcoastStampers today.  They directed us to this tutorial,  which I watched while doing this.

I applied gesso to my cardstock first.   Then I applied the oxide ink direct from the pad to the stencil.

I did this with four different ink colors and three different stencils.  After I applied  the ink to the stencil, I  spritzed it  with water a couple of times.  Then I laid the stencil down on the paper.    I did each stencil and even on top of the other, but I dried in between; I just dabbed with a paper towel.

Then I cut the paper down to the size  I wanted.  I chose where I liked the design best.  I will have leftovers for another card.  

My finished card:  I  added the piece to a turquoise base and added a thank you die cut. I want to play with this some more! 

For Elizabeth's T Stands For Tuesday over at Altered Book Lover, I have these photos for you.  I have been wanting to walk around this pond at a local shopping center.  A friend and I had lunch there, and then walked around the pond.  She took the photos for me. :)

 There is an island in the middle of the pond, and that is where the waterfall and little bridge are.
There were heron, too, but she didn't get a photo of them.  However there is something on top of the bridge.

And here I am with my water from lunch. :)

T Stands For Toilet Paper Technique!

Good afternoon blog followers!  Happy Labor Day to those in the USA and in Canada.  It is so quiet around here.  This morning there was no traffic out when I took my walk.  So nice!  Since we are retired, and our family lives far away, we have no special plans.  However, tomorrow, we will celebrate 53 years of marriage!  We have a special walk planned and maybe out to eat. I will share that next week.

I am joining Try It On Tuesday with a couple of projects for their In My Garden Theme.
For this card I began with a gelli print.  I stamped right on it in Memento Tuxedo Black and die cut with Sizzix stamps and dies.

 Next I used a scrap of  paper, that I think I had sprayed with Memory Mists for another project.  I thought it looked the color of clay pots, and I wanted to paper piece them on my project.  You can see here where I had already die cut the pots out.

Next I used a new technique for a Alpha Challenge on SCS to use toilet paper or the roll somehow on your project.  I put this toilet paper right on the ink pad to ink it up and then applied it to my card base for a background for my cacti, which by the way were in my rock garden at a previous home.  I thought this added some great texture.

This is the result.  This is my first submission for Try It On Tuesday.  Also, I will submit it for the Technique challenge for our Alpha Challenge, and the Featured Stamper Challenge on SCS.  I cased a lovely card by asweetjewel aka Julie.

In July we had a ladies Bible study luncheon.  I just loved their decorations and discovered a new tea and just have to share it with you.  Those little suitcases are so adorable, and everyone had a different teacup!

Downton Abbey Tea!  I didn't know they had such a thing!  But of course it just makes since!
And I loved it.  I guess they have several flavors, too.  This was a Christmas one.  I even love the container! :)
