T Stands for Spring is on the Way!

John 13:34  "A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another." KJV

We have been so cold this past week that today feels like Spring!  Last Tuesday morning it was minus 17F. Today it got up to 62!  I even got out for a walk. I am so ready for Spring after a week or so of sub freezing temperatures!  But I did stay in long enough to play in my craft room, which I cleaned up a little during our freeze.  I happened on to a  Tim Holtz Facebook you tube video on alcohol inks and lifting.  I have done this before but decided to try it again as I watched.  I put on some inks and then used the lift pad to ink up some Tim Holt stamps.  I think I like the result and it should make a nice card.  My alcohol inks are very old, some of them from RiverCity Rubber Works that was here years ago.  Do you remember them, Elizabeth?

Here is my photo of my Tea in my Christmas Starbucks cup in my photo of my project, with Tim Holtz in the background.  The cup of tea is so I can join the T Stands for Tuesday over at Altered Book Lover.  The lovely Elizabeth is our hostess along with Bleubeard.  Check in and see what it is all about.

Below are the two panels I did with alcohol inks, alcohol blenders and Silver mixative on Yupo paper.

Below I stamped with Alcohol Lift ink.  After you stamp, then you dab with a paper towel and it takes the ink off where you stamped.  Then the stamp has ink on it, so you stamp that on something; I stamped on watercolor paper.  Now I have two panels for cards.

Also for the last few weeks I have been working on another junk journal.  They take so much time.

I had made four as gifts at Christmas time and since have made two more.

Here is a couple of photos of my journal I made for the February Dear Julie Junk Journal Challenge.

We were to make a fabric cover.  There were items we had to make, such as fabric flip, fabric pocket, flip flop pages, etc.  We were to have at least one signature ( a group of pages sewn together), 50 pages.  Mine had one signature with 52 pages, that is 13 pages, but each is four, counting each side and front and back.  We were to use a paper pad we had on hand, a no buy challenge.  This is first time I used a hard book cover.  In other words I took a book a part, then covered it and sewed my signature into it.  I covered the stitches with the lace.

The digital pages I used were Julie's .  I earned them for finishing the December Challenge.

I am just showing you the cover and some of my favorite pages.  I spare you looking at all 52! LOL

Thanks for stopping by!  Stay warm!  Happy T Day!

T Stands Another Technique

"The king's heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord:  he turns it wherever he will Proverbs 21:1" ( Our memory verse for  our  Revive Our Hearts Esther Bible Study.)

Hello to my dear Blog Readers.  I have been playing with alcohol inks!  We had a challenge on SplitcoastStampers to make a card with an alcohol ink background.  I got very messy!  I only have a few bottles of the ink, but love the colors I do have.  I put it on some yupa like paper; it is a synthetic paper.  When you put the inks on it and add the alcohol blending solution, it really spreads. I also use a Tim Holtz blending tool to move the ink around, or you can even blow threw a straw.
On the first one, I had already cut, so had to lay back down together to get a photo.  You can see that I even played with my alcohol lift ink.  You ink up a stamp (dragonfly) with the alcohol lift ink then stamp it on the alcohol inked panel, and it lifts off the ink and you have a dragonfly.  Love this technique!
Here are the two sheets I did :

I made the card below out of one of the turquoise panels.  I die cut the sentiment out of silver cs and the 13th are rub ons.  I also added a punched flower.
This was for a semi local scrapbook store celebrating being in business 13 years.  By semi local, I mean it isn't very far from me, but it is in another little town near here.

We are also celebrating TSFT (T Stands For Tuesday) over at Bleubeard & Elizabeth's over at Altered Book Lover.  We just include a drink related item in our posts and we link our blog post over there.  Then we all have a giant international tea party with Elizabeth as our hostess!

We had a coupon for buy two dips of ice cream and get another two dips free at our local BR baskin robbins.  So, of course hubby and I went for ice cream this week, as we love ice cream.  We both got dips of the Gold Medal Ribbon flavor, which had chocolate, vanilla, and caramel.  It was recommended by the clerk.  Then he got a  peanut butter chocolate flavor which I would usually get, but  got the  Upside Down Praline instead!  They have so many flavors to choose from!  So good!

As we didn't even have our usual lemon water, I took a photo of their drink machine as we left for Elizabeth!  Hope that counts! :)

Thank you all for stopping by!  Happy T Day to the T Gang!  Have a great week, everyone!
Happy 4th of July to all my USA friends!

T Stands for New Technique

This month's memory Verses:  Eph. 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast

Welcome to my blog!  I wanted to show you a new technique I tried.  I had been watching Tim Holtz You Tube videos, and of course was enabled to go out and buy a new product: an Alcohol Lift-Ink pad to use with Tim Holtz Alcohol inks.  So, I came home with it, watched some more videos to see how to use it again. I took some photos of what the results were.  I had fun playing with it and got some good backgrounds for cards.

Below is a photo of the inks I used and also the paper I  applied left over ink off of the blender tool.  So that will be some good background paper, too.

Number one below:  I applied several colors of alcohol inks with a blender tool onto Alcohol Ink Yupo paper.

Number two:  I inked up  SU! Something Lacy background stamp with the Alcohol Lift-Ink, and stamped it on the above paper, below is the result. It picked up the ink from above.

Nubmer three:  I stamped off  with the ink I picked up off the above onto another piece of card stock.  Result is below.
I think I like this technique, and  you see just from this print I got two backgrounds plus the stamp off sheet.  Of course I played with other colors and stamps too.  I hope that if this is new to you, it gives you an idea of what you can do with the Alcohol Lift-Ink pad.  I thought it was pretty cool.

Well, of course I am here today to link up with Altered Book Lover for Elizabeth's T Stands for Tuesday.  We are to share a drink related post.  I was at our monthly
Bible study tonight and remembered to take a photo of our drinks, which mine was iced tea. I got the  pretty decorations, in the photo,  too. We shared a lovely potluck, and had a great lesson on being thankful.  In fact our whole study for the next few months is on being thankful.  I am thankful for all of you! :)

And as promised , some more Maine photos.  This is the first day of our trip before we got to our son's.
First we visited Bath, where the visitor's center was an old train depot.

Then we got off the beaten path to go visit Owl's Head Light house.
We had to drive into a park, then park our car and walk up to the lighthouse, which is still functioning, so we couldn't go into it.  On the way we saw a sea gull, maybe?

I walked up the whole way, but hubby didn't.  I took this photo of him below.

This was at the top and as far as I could go.

I had hubby take a photo of me on the stairs.

There was a gift shop and a museum at the bottom.

There are so many lighthouses along the coast of Maine; we wanted to at least see one.

I hope you like my photos.  Thanks for stopping by today and looking. Happy Tea Day!   Have a great week!
