A Play with Mixed Media

 “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:34

I have been playing today with mixed media.  I had watched Nadine Milton (Hop-A-Long Studios on YouTube Channel) on the Art Expression Summit.  I used her ideas for this page.  I stamped, watercolored, stenciled with acrylic paint, and collaged with a napkin and with stamped and die cut acetate pieces.  I just totally had fun!  I am submitting this for the Art Journal Journey Challenge to use birds this month.  Thank you, Mia.  There was a bird on the napkin I used, which by the way is from our napkin swap a few years ago for TSFT.  Also, there are birds in the stamped image with the lighthouse.  I also submitted for the ACOT Rewind Challenge of the Mixed Media Hidden Journaling Challenge and to SplitcoastStampers for their Free4All challenge to use paint and for their Mix-Ability challenge to use the letters of the word Grads for elements in our project:

G- green
R- round, the stamped acetate pieces are circles.
A- acrylic paint, acetate
D- daubed paint
S- stamping, stenciling

I used Ken Oliver Color Bursts which I have had for years!  I used Stampers Anonymous TH Leger Script background stamps, Stampendous stamps, Art 101 acrylic paints, napkin, and acetate, using Ranger Archival Jet Black ink and Stazon Jet Black ink.

I hope you are having a great week!  Playing in my craft room today was very relaxing.  I hope you have something you like to do for relaxation.

Here is a photo of another relaxing element in my life:  A cup of tea.  (photo from archives).  I am posting this for my ticket to TSFT.  However, I am posting early so I can get in on May's AJJ Challenge.

9Thanks for stopping by everyone.

T Stands for Tis’ Lovely!

If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never ends. 1 Corinthians 13:3-8

I quoted the Bible verse about love today, because of all the quotes that were on Elizabeth's mug. I thought there were a lot of similarities.

Okay, I always think T has to stand for something that begins with T, although I notice on other blogs that is not necessarily true! LOL. But it tis beautiful here today.  I took a three mile walk this morning and evidently a lot of folks thought it was lovely as there were many of us enjoying ourselves on the trail.   It is in the 70s and it is supposed to be in the 80s tomorrow!  Love it!

Besides walking, I have done some crafting to.  I have been taking part in CalvinBall with Alice Boll.  If you remember the comic strip, Calvin and Hobbs, CalvinBall is based on that.  You get points, but the points don’t matter and we make up the rules as we go! LOL. Just lots of inspiration to use stash and to have fun. #scraphappy, #calvinball .   I did a journal page for the Art Journal Journey Spring Forward Challenge, hosted this month by Chris aka pearshaped crafting, and used a lot of the CalvinBall prompts.

This is also for my March Junk Journal challenge for Julie Dear Julie, and the sketch challenge on ACOT.  Our theme was monochromatic for the Julie Dear Julie page. Each page this month will have a different theme, all beginning with Ms.

The burlap is a pocket on the page. I think butterflies and flowers when I think of Spring.  Now that I think about it, there should have been birds on it, too.  Next time!

Now, my ticket for the tea party, TSFT over at Altered Book Lover hosted by Bleubeard and Elizabeth.  Our dear friends that visited last month left this in our refrigerator.  I love iced tea with lemonade.  So fun~

Thanks Shelly and Ray! :)

I have a couple more photos.  I generally photograph dogs on my walks, but last week I photographed cats!  So here is for Bleubeard and Elizabeth and all you other cat lovers.

Aren't they adorable?

Have a wonderful week!  Thanks for stopping by!  See you next time!

T Stands for December

 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. Luke 2:7

Hello December!  Can you believe we are into the last month of the year?  I can't!  I suddenly realize I have only 30 some Christmas cards made of the over 60 I need!  At least I got my international cards mailed Saturday.  So, I am planning this blog on the fly as today got away from me.  I didn’t get this done!

So, I am back today, to post my layout for Art Journal Journey, and also for the 3 in a Row & Number Mix Challenges on A Cherry on Top. The "other" Sharon has posted out theme this month at AJJ as Winter Theme.  I am documenting our first snow on December 1st on this 12x12 scrap page.  I used two different snowflake punches.  I used Stamperia Blue Winter paper and Stories Simple Fresh Snow ephemera.  Thank you, Sharon, for the perfect theme!

I don’t know if I can link to TSFT or not but will try.  Do you see my ticket on my scrap page?

Have a great week!  Thanks for stopping by.  See you next time.

Tuesday Stands for Too Busy!

 1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

2 A time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to get, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 A time to love, and a time to hate;
a time of war, and a time of peace.
9 What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth? Ecclesiastes 3:1-9

Yes, too busy to post, but doing it anyway!  I wanted to do the Art Journal Journey November challenge.   Wendy’s challenge is A Moment in Time.  Mia generously offered photos for this challenge for free on her blog.  Thank you, Mia!  I remembered these time quote stamps from My Favorite Things.  I am doing this challenge for two other challenges:  sketch challenge on ACOT and the Alpha challenge for letter Q on SplitcoastStampers.  I included a stamped image of a lady writing a letter with a quill.  I thought it worked well with Mia’s photo.

I used stamps from 3 different sets, Stamp'n Up! "Vintage Postcard", Stampin' Up! "Sense of Time", and the My Favorite Things "Clearly Sentimental about time".  I used a coffee filter for the element in the sketch, I followed.  I added postage stamps just because I thought it worked with the whole theme, of the photo.

I am doing zoom with friends while doing my blog, although this is photo is from another time, but it is my ticket for the party at Elizabeth & Bleubeard's at Altered Book Lover for TSFT.

Happy T Day to the T gang.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great week.  See you next time.

T stands for Terrific Day!

  "I thank my God upon every remembrance of you," Philippians 1:3

I did get outside for a walk after a busy morning.   I was hubby's designated driver for his eye appointment, as he had to have his eyes dilated.  I read my book on my iPad while I waited about an hour and a half for him.  We then did banking and headed to Mardell's Christian Bookstore where we bought items for a church ministry.  Then we headed home, and I took my walk.  I did not wear Elizabeth's hat today as it was very windy! The temperature was really mild, even cool.  Even though I begin my walk wearing a jacket, I soon took it off and tied it around my waist.  But it was definitely an enjoyable walk.

Now to show you what I did over the weekend.  I attended virtually another card summit and learned lots of new techniques and crafting tips.   One of the speakers was Alicia with www.papercraftsecrets.com.au.  She gave us a free digital to make 6 cards with envelopes. Her digitals are gorgeous!  The theme was Steampunk/ Country Western.  I will show you one that I made.   She made the digitals to be printed and cut with a Silhouette or Circut machine.  I have neither, so all were fussy cut. I added pearls to flowers, butterfly and cowgirl's neck.

Maybe you can see the pearls on this one and the front of the envelope.

Here is more of the kit I printed.  Aren't these adorable images?

I plan on making more cards using these.  I even decorated the inside of the card.

Remember last week when I said I had made 20 cards for challenges on ACOT for World Card Making Day?  I won one of the drawings and here is my prize that I already received on Saturday.  Lots of goodies.  I haven’t even had time to play with any of it yet!

Since I am joining Bleubeard & Elizabeth over at Altered Book Lover for T Stands for Tuesday, I will share the following.  We had a scrumptious lunch at Longhorns, but I forgot until after to take any photos.

Our drink of choice:

Western decor:

My favorite:

That is about it this time.  Thank you so much for stopping by. Just like my posted Bible verse says, I am thankful for each one of you.
 Happy T Day to the T Gang!  See you next time.

T Stands for Truly Cool

  "I thank my God upon every remembrance of you," Philippians 1:3

Good afternoon! Yes, it is cool here; highs in 70s!   I am enjoying it, going walking and spending time in my craft room.   I have been working on my submission to Art Journal Journey challenge for September.  Mia has challenged us to make our own background.  I had just made a card where I did a color wash with watercolor and still had my paints handy.  So, I started my page with a watercolor wash.  Then I did some background stamping and spraying.  I stamped my title and added a photo I took this Spring on my trail. Be sure and check out the entries at Art Journal Journey.

I used Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors and Tim Holtz Distress Mica stains: Sugary Gumdrop and Wonderland and Frosty Mint.   I stamped the letters with  Stampin' Up inks, and   stamped the Stampendous background writing stamps with Archival black ink.  The panel in back of the photo is a gel print scrap.  I used the weekly art journal sketch from ACOT.

And here is the card I made with the color wash and doodling.

I had fun doodling the people and then hand wrote the sentiment, too. I was just practicing this technique while watching a YouTube video.

That is what I have been doing craft wise and of course we went out to eat, this week to Hog Wild.   We always get the $5.99 special.  He gets the fries for a side and I get the coleslaw, then we split them.  We like the coleslaw on our pulled pork sandwiches to make it Carolina Pork.  Yum, yum!  Sorry, Elizabeth. :)  This time our drinks came with our combos, so he got cola and I mixed the lemonade with the unsweetened tea and had an Arnold Palmer.  This is my ticket to the T Stands for Tuesday over at Altered Book Lover hosted by Elizabeth and Bleubeard.

Then we went to an ice cream social!

I put almost every topping on my ice cream.  It was like I had ice cream on my toppings!  Also, besides the variety of nuts, different candies, and cocoanut, they had chocolate and caramel syrups, cherries, and whipped cream!

Thank you for stopping by.  It is always fun to read the comments and see who visited me.  Happy T Day to the T Gang.  See you next time.

T Stands for Tea

"I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,"  Philippians 1:3

Happy Tuesday!  I am a little late to our tea party!  I wanted to finish a journal layout for Art  Journal Journey for Chris's August Hot Summer (Nights and Days) challenge.  I am still working in my Smash book and using leftover photos from my scrapbooking.  These are Summertime photos from different years. Besides leftover photos, I used leftovers from a Simple Stories kit that I got at a scrap retreat in K.C. Mo. in 2018!  The journaling was printed off with my label maker.  After everything was down, I covered the photos, and spattered with Mango Lemonade Memories Mists.  I kid you not, that is the name!  That could be my ticket to the TSFT, couldn't it?  It is a drink related reference....  but, see below, as I have a more normal ticket.

This is also for a Splitcoaststampers "Summer Fun" Clean and Simple Challenge and for the Art Journal Art Journal Sketch Challenge on A Cherry on Top, (ACOT)

Here is my ticket to TSFT over at Altered Book Lover:  This card is for the Alpha Challenge on Splitcoststampers. The letter this week is F for furniture.  These were gifted dies, so I am excited that I could actually use them!  I layered the scene on a heart embossed panel, another gifted item.  I stamped and punched Just for You from Tea Shoppe, an old retired Stampin' Up! set. This is also for a challenge on A Cherry on Top (ACOT) to use some shiny paper and to use at least 5 sequins.  I inked the edges and over the raised hearts with TH faded jeans Distress Ink.

Thanks for stopping by.  I will see you next time.

T Stands for Taking it Easy

  Delight thyself also in the LORD;

and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

5 Commit thy way unto the LORD;
trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. Psalms 37:4-5

By taking it easy, I mean less walking; it is just too hot, and I can't get motivated to get out early! It is just nice to stay in the A/C and play in my craft room.  All week-end I watched videos for the Card Makers for Success Summit.  I got a lot of ideas and have several cards started.  I was inspired to begin making a few Christmas cards.

Let's get to what I have been working on today.  I looked up the Art Journal Journey Challenge and found that Chris aka Pearshaped Crafting's theme this month is Hot Summer Nights and Days.  Great theme!!  I am journaling/scrapping in my smash book just to use it.  It lay unused for many years!

I used some 49 and Market papers, and ephemera, but the feathery paper was what was in the smash book.  Every page in the smash book has different patterned paper, which makes it nice.  I also entered in the VSBN Challenge on Splitcoaststampers to use a sun on your layout.  Also, it is a submission for the Art Journal sketch on ACOT.  I used some leftover zoo photos, which I liked and really wanted to use.

For our TSFT party over at Altered Book Lover, I show our meal at Bagatelle's recently, with our free cake.  I had a wonderful chicken peach poppy seed salad and soup.  Everything there is always so good, and the portions are always generous.  This time they gave us our dessert right with our meal!  We usually go about once every 5 or 6 weeks.  So good!

Happy T Day!  Stay cool!  Thanks for stopping by.  I will see you next time, dear friends.

T Stands for Tuesday & Art

 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD;

and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. Psalms 33:12

I will try to do another TSFT post!  Doctor appointments and physical therapy take up a lot of time, and Tuesday is also Bible study day.  So, I am scheduling a post but actually doing it on Sunday afternoon.  That is what I did last week, and it worked pretty well.  I just have to remember to link it to Elizabeth's party at Altered Book Lover.  I also want to link to **Art*Journal*Journey* this week, as I did a journal spread for Hallie's Botanical theme.

This is actually called a Smash Book from K& Co.  I have had it for years and decided to start using it for art journal spreads. The size is about 7 x 10 inches, which is just right.

I used 49 and Market ephemera & rub ons.  My photos are printed off of social media of our grandson.  I just thought they were so cute and had to be used somewhere.  I thought this concept worked better than traditional scrapbooking.  I used an art journal sketch off of ACOT, with theme of rectangles, Challenge #31.

Here is my ticket for TSFT:

We love their fries!  My husband gets the double steakburger, but I like the Patty melt, which is on rye.  It is so good, and I am sure none of this is healthy.  But this is a place we only got to about twice a year at most!

I took a photo of a photo hanging up in the establishment.  So cool.

Thanks for stopping by.  Stay cool.  See you next time.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

 Create in me a clean heart, O God;

and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from thy presence;
and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation;
and uphold me with thy free spirit.
13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways;
and sinners shall be converted unto thee. Psalms 51:10-13

These are Bible verses I try to pray each day.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  We really don't celebrate, but this year we were invited to a St. Patrick's Day event at a senior living facility last week.  We were given coins with our assigned number and a piece of paper with the names of places we were to visit, like the library, model apartment, movie theatre, cafe, fitness room, etc.  At each place spread over three stories, we got our paper stamped, deposited our coin and ate a snack.  At one place, we had guitar music and tall green drinks with fancy straws which we got to keep.  The drink was a flavor of Hawaiian punch mixed with Sprite.  The idea was for us to see all these places in their facility, in hopes we would pay them a lot of money and move into it!  Also, they would draw coins out for prizes.  We weren't called, so I guess we didn't win.  They also had a photo op where they took our photos with a lady dressed all in green.  I haven't got that photo yet, and I didn't take one with my phone. :(

I took one photo at the event but first here is one of the fancy straws because you really don't see them that well in the next photo.

And the drinks were really green, just doesn't show well here, no matter how I tried to fix the color.  This is also my ticket to Bleubeard & Elizabeth's TSFT over at Altered Book Lover.

This particular food was some kind of potato pancake.  Other food was fruit, like berries and grapes.  In the theatre they served a tiny cheesecake thing, and we were there too early for some kind of chicken thing.  The food wasn't all that impressive.  We did get a gold coin that when opened was chocolate.  I couldn't figure out how to open it, and decided it really wasn't anything to eat, but hubby broke it and there was chocolate in it. :)

Today I also am showing a journal page I did for Art Journal Journey, CalvinBall and ACOT Art Journal Sketch challenge.

For AJJ the theme was Home Sweet Home, and on the right side of the page I show that I am thankful for my home sweet home and that it is my happy place, and I do count it as one of my blessings.
I used the 2page sketch as given on A Cherry on Top. For Calvin Ball I think I got 34 points.  Again, the points are just for fun and inspiration.

Points: 2 pages, star, date, real or faux stitching, frame, heart, polka dot, stripes, sketch, handwriting, film strip, hexagon, circle, grid, coffee or tea, stamp, pink, flower, fussy cut, splatter, butterfly, banner, bling, 2 social media shares, 2 blogs., among other items!  We have over 100 items to choose from for points, and we can double dip which means, the circle with stitched die counts two points, for stitching and for being a circle, except on "no double dipping day".

For the background on my pages, I played with some new Distress Mica Sprays from Tim Holz.  I had picked them up at JoAnn's which is closing.  They were only 20% off though.  I am sorry they are closing, but I sure didn't think they were having much of a sale, and everything was about gone in the store where I was.

All of the items were just in my stash.  So, I just used what I had already cut and stamped.  The top stamp is Paula Best, and I don't even have it anymore, but found it in a container with pre stamped and cut images. I love using up stuff that I didn't want to toss but saved!

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure and check out the links above for inspiration.
See you next time.
