T Stands For Tea and Crafting

Hello everyone!  I have been making an art journal page this weekend with inspiration from Art with Allison who was one of the presenters at the virtual Art Journal Muse Summit last week.  The digital sunflower and cloud and piece with the butterfly are hers.  It was free for us to use, fussy cut and color as we followed a long with her. 

This is my completed page, and I will be submitting it for Mia's Challenge at Craftlandia, and the Challenge over at Art Journal Journey, both with Autumn themes.

I began by filling the page with all the things I was thankful for.  Then I applied gesso over all of it, followed by a collage of papers. (music, book, scrap, etc.)  After that I painted with distress inks.  I painted a white doily yellow for the sun.  I fussy cut the sunflower, cloud and words and glued them on the page.  I did some splatters on the finished page.  In a few places, you can still see my handwriting under everything.  But I know it is there and for all which I am thankful to God.

One of the things I am thankful for is the change in weather.  It has been cooler and I have been able to get in some walks.  Here is a sunrise from September 24th.

T Stands for Technical Issues

I have spent hours on the phone with HP Instant Ink today. The good news, the problem was resolved.  I have put off calling them for several months.  I am glad I finally did.  My problem began several months ago when HP said I needed to update the HP printer driver.  After that, I could no longer print wireless as I had before.  And it was only after hours of reloading and uninstalling that I was even able to print with the printer plugged into my laptop. Today, however, by calling HP, they were able to get me back to wireless printing!

I do have to praise the HP Instant Ink program, and its support.  If you don't know that program when signed up for it hooks up with your printer and keeps track of how many pages you print and how much ink you use and sends you the ink before you need it, free!  You just pay per month for whatever level you want.  I am grandfathered from the original free level of 15 pages free a month, since I bought this cheap printer at Walmart in 2020.  I love this program but, am sorry to say the free level is no longer an option. If I happen to use more than 15 pages, it just purchases 10 more for $2.00.   But most months, I don't owe anything.  I love the fact that I no longer have to go to a store and buy printer cartridges!  

So, that was the first technical issue.  Next our internet, tv and phone which are all Cox went out!  Thankfully, internet and phone came back, but not tv.  I received texts that it should be back by 5:38.  I am enjoying the quiet, as usually my husband has it on sports talk shows all day!  LOL

The other tech issue is with my cheap Walmart phone.  I have had it for probably at least 4 years, and mostly it does what I need.  It isn't like I use it all the time.  I just buy time for it once a year, so not on any monly contract.  It is for emergencies and photos! LOL But I do get texts, like from Cox telling us about our outage issues.  It does not make any sounds when I get texts.  I have looked at settings, in the app, and doing everything I can think of to do.  Still, no sound.  eek!

Okay, so we love this technological world and all these convenient devices, but eek! LOL 

Moving on:

Here is a card I created for a friend's son who is retiring from being a pilot.  I got the idea from Pinterest.  It is a fun fold with a belly band.

Time for Show and Tell

I told you last time that this time I would show you what I have been working on.  It is a Book of Scraps.  I got the idea off YouTube from Treasure Books channel.

I am sorry I did not take photos as I went, only the maybe finished product, because you can keep adding forever.  Anyway, you just begin by picking out your base pages, then start gluing scraps on the pages.  I provided a link for you to watch the process for yourself.  You could make a cover, but I just used the pages.  I used 6 8 1/2x11 navy cardstock, as I didn't have good black cardstock.  I didn't begin to use all my scraps.  I could make these books forever, which isn't a bad idea, because the whole process is very relaxing.  I can go back anytime and add more.

6. sewing and stitches:  I don't sew, so I skipped this step.

7. Spraying:  I splattered

That is my project, not for any challenge or for a gift or anything, just for me, enjoying my crafting.

T Stands for Time

Yes, T stands for Time!  How quickly it passes for example.  I haven't posted since the 4th of July!  I don't know how that happens.  I have done quite a bit this Summer, just not blogging.  I traveled out of state to our granddaughter's wedding and had so much fun.  It was joy to be with young people and our family!  Then we have had family here, and I am lovin' that!  I have made a couple of junk journals this Summer.  I have been reading quite a bit.  Our daughter recommended a new author.  That is always fun to have a new book list!  Oh, and we celebrated our 60th wedding anniversary this month!  

So, here is a photo of the cover of a 60-page, 2 signature junk journal I made as a birthday gift for a friend.  I covered a gutted book cover with fabric from an old table cloth.
