T Stands For Too Old

I had a birthday yesterday, and that makes me too old for all this technology!  I just read an older article written several years ago that at that time  Facebook's Zuckerberg was an old man of 28 and that was the average age of his employees.  The average age of Google's workforce was 29.  Sure makes me feel too old for all this technology.  I only bring this up because the last few T Parties, I haven't been able to figure out how to comment on some of the T-Gang's blogs.  I write the comment, and push submit, and the comment goes away, but I can tell it didn't take.  So, I think maybe it is a matter of comment moderation, and I go back later and comment is still not there.  So, I will try this week, again!  Thanks for your patience while I try to figure this out!

Meanwhile, here is a photo of all the wonderful homemade cards and goodies that were sent me for my birthday! 

And a few more of our Maine photos.  Even my kids don't look at all our vacation photos, so this is it;  promise!  We went to the Penobscot Marine Museum, which was very interesting.  So much history that I never knew!  I guess that is why we go to museums to learn more history!  Searsport's early history was very interesting.  It's major industry was shipbuilding and cargo handlings and the town is famous for it's sea captains in the mid 1800s.  It was once home to 10 percent of all American deep water shipmasters.  That is a quote off the website.  We went through a house that a captain had built.  They displayed  photos on the walls,  hundreds of photos of the sea captains from this town. Over 500 ship captains came from Searsport!  They had 11 shipyards and built over 200 ships.    Some families had three to five captains in their families.  The sons, fathers, and grandfathers. Some of the wives even went on their trips with them!  I just found all of this amazing!

This is a big thing in Maine, the Museum in the streets, where you can do a walking tour and see historical homes and sites.  

I had to take this photo because the ship ropes were the railings.  I thought that was pretty cool.

I wanted to sail! 

 And later that day we stopped for lunch at this quaint little place.

Lobster, lobster and more lobster!  Love it, and the lighthouse border, too.

In this photo is a cup and a bottle up in the window.  That is my drink related post! :)  I forgot again to take a photo of our drink or our meal!

Don't you love it?  Lobsters R Us!  This is the back of the cute inside restaurant.  It doesn't look it, but it had a very pricy menu!  We ate salads this time, since we had eaten so much for a week!  This was last local restaurant before coming home.  We stayed the night in Portland and flew home the next morning!  Loved our trip to Maine!

T Stands for Too Lazy to Post!

I am joining the T gang after a couple of weeks off!  Just too lazy, I think to take time to post!  I think today for the T gang, I will post some more photos from our Maine trip.  I am interested in old cemeteries and this one was near one of the  motels we stayed at.  I took a walk through it to get my steps.

 I like to look at the dates, and these were all quite old.

 I liked the fence around these stones.

 And, I am not sure of the significance of these  balls, just to be ornate, I guess.

Below are photos of another place where we ate in Maine.  I loved the décor and food; we had lobster rolls again!  Love them!

 When I was taking a photo of this bear, someone offered to take my photo with the bear!  I declined! LOL

 Loved this definition of what a fisherman is!

 I took a photo of the  name of the restaurant as we left, but we didn't stay at Baits Motel! 

I forgot to take a beverage photo when we were at the restaurant, so I am showing you a teapot card I made several years ago.  I found this photo in my archives, the card was given to someone a long time ago!  I love making tea related cards.  This was using a favorite old tri teapot stamp I have and the background was stamped with an older SU! stamp and the die was punched with a SU! boarder punch. I even did some paper piercing on this card!   That is my drink related post for T Stands for Tuesday over at Elizabeth's Altered Book Lover.

T Stands For A Little Bit Of Everything!

Hello Bloggers!  Welcome back!  Today I am posting for a couple of challenges and for T Stands For Tuesday!  And I have some questions for you, too!  And I will share more of our Maine trip.

First if you are not in the T Gang, please check out Bleubeard & Elizabeth's over at Altered Book Lover, where they host T Stands for Tuesday to see what it is all about!  We link up with her with our drink related posts on Tuesdays!  So fun and  Elizabeth is our  very gracious hostess,  and I think that Bleubeard keeps her in line. 

Also, today, I am taking part with Try It on Tuesday.  Their theme this week was to slap it on.  That is why I am a tad late, because I have been slapping on the paste, inks, and I don't know what all!  This is also for the Art Journal Journey  World of Fantasy Challenge.

I applied some Gesso to my Multi Media Canson paper,  and then put down a stencil and sprayed with Memories Mists.  After it was dry I stamped the Dylussions Birds.  Next I used another stencil and applied Inca gold.  Then I used a brass dragonfly stencil and applied screen ink. I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment.  Oh, I also slapped on some Washi Tape.  I slapped on some distress inks.  After I slapped on ink over the butterfly stencil I slapped the leftover all over the page.  I got rather slap happy!  Also stamped some texture stamps around the birds.  I think this is a lot of slapping and rather a world of fantasy  as one bird is telling the other to be herself!

Here is a photo of items used:

almost everything use, I forgot to put the Nuevo drops in there that were the birds eyes.

This is  where I slapped the extra off the stencils, to kind of clean them! I didn't apply any extra, just what was on the stencil, even the dragonfly was only what was left on the stencil.  I don't know what I will do with this yet.  It is about as big as a tag or ATC.  So, it will be a background for something..

There was another challenge: Eileen and Halle challenged us to show our Washi Tape:

I don't have that much, and rarely use what I have.  There are packages not even opened yet and they have been in that drawer for a long time!

So those are the challenges, now for more Maine photos:  These are on a day where our son took us up into the mountains to see many things we wouldn't have seen otherwise!  We had a wonderful day!

Moosehead Lake

Our son took us to a wonderful restaurant on the lake, where we enjoyed a wonderful lunch.  My drink is in the photo as well as my tote bag, but not me.  I have to take the photo. Hubby and I had our lemon water, but son had Maine Root Beer. 

It was on my bucket list to walk a little of the Appalachian Trail, emphasis on a little", we even walked on the dangerous last 100 miles trail.

We took a detour off the AT to this little falls.

 Lastly, if you made it this far... my questions!

Do you watch videos, and see craft items used and buy them, just to put them away and forget to use them?
Do they get old and dried up before you remember to use them?  
I am talking pastes, paints, and sprays and such.  When I made my journaling page, I found  a lot of my stash was dried up.  Some of it had never even been opened. These cute little jars of lime color, turquoise, and pink modeling paste by ART have never been opened, and they  are dry!  My sprays won't spray!  And some of my  Inca Gold jars of whatever are dried up.  I added water to one and it did absolutely nothing, so threw that one out.  I am so frustrated that I let this happen.
My last question is : Is there anything I can do other than throw them out?

One more thing, I apologize for last week's post having the long empty space before the comments.  I could not correct it no matter what I did. I tried and tried to edit it out, but couldn't.   I had a lot of trouble with last week's post anyway.  I hope this week's post doesn't do that!  I am not electronically smart!  I am blessed to have a blog at all, and blessed by all of you!  Thanks for stopping by!  Happy T Day!

T Stands for New Technique

Welcome to my blog!  I wanted to show you a new technique I tried.  I had been watching Tim Holtz You Tube videos, and of course was enabled to go out and buy a new product: an Alcohol Lift-Ink pad to use with Tim Holtz Alcohol inks.  So, I came home with it, watched some more videos to see how to use it again. I took some photos of what the results were.  I had fun playing with it and got some good backgrounds for cards.

 Below is a photo of the inks I used and also the paper I  applied left over ink off of the blender tool.  So that will be some good background paper, too.

Number one below:  I applied several colors of alcohol inks with a blender tool onto Alcohol Ink Yupo paper.

Number two:  I inked up  SU! Something Lacy background stamp with the Alcohol Lift-Ink, and stamped it on the above paper, below is the result. It picked up the ink from above.

Nubmer three:  I stamped off  with the ink I picked up off the above onto another piece of card stock.  Result is below.

I think I like this technique, and  you see just from this print I got two backgrounds plus the stamp off sheet.  Of course I played with other colors and stamps too.  I hope that if this is new to you, it gives you an idea of what you can do with the Alcohol Lift-Ink pad.  I thought it was pretty cool.

Well, of course I am here today to link up with Altered Book Lover for Elizabeth's T Stands for Tuesday.  We are to share a drink related post.  I was at our monthly
Bible study tonight and remembered to take a photo of our drinks, which mine was iced tea. I got the  pretty decorations, in the photo,  too. We shared a lovely potluck, and had a great lesson on being thankful.  In fact our whole study for the next few months is on being thankful.  I am thankful for all of you! :)

And as promised , some more Maine photos.  This is the first day of our trip before we got to our son's.
First we visited Bath, where the visitor's center was an old train depot.

Then we got off the beaten path to go visit Owl's Head Light house.
We had to drive into a park, then park our car and walk up to the lighthouse, which is still functioning, so we couldn't go into it.  On the way we saw a sea gull, maybe?

I walked up the whole way, but hubby didn't.  I took this photo of him below.

This was at the top and as far as I could go.

I had hubby take a photo of me on the stairs.

There was a gift shop and a museum at the bottom.

There are so many lighthouses along the coast of Maine; we wanted to at least see one.

T Stands for Trip to Maine

Welcome to my blog today, on my 52nd wedding anniversary!  We took what you could call an anniversary  trip last week, the reason I didn't take part in TSFT.  We visited our son in Maine. We flew to Portland Maine, then rented a car to drive up the coast, and then inland to see our son.  He then took us up in the mountains and to Moosehead Lake, the largest lake in Maine.  Although we tasted lobster rolls for the first time, and visited lighthouses, and stayed on the seashore,  our main mission was to visit with our son.  He has a lovely cabin with a gorgeous view of a pond, wildflowers, and wildlife.  It was the first time for us to see it.   He was an excellent host and tour guide!  He even took us up on the Appalachian Trail, which was on my bucket list. Our son has hiked both ways as a thru hiker and again in sections, for a total of three times.  I had walked it virtually on Walking4Fun which is on my sidebar.  But this made me want to actually set foot on it!

The good news is that I should have enough photos for awhile for T Stands for Tuesday over at Bleubeared & Elizabeths at Altered Book Lover.  Elizabeth is our wonderful hostess for Tuesdays where we post a drink related post.


So today, to begin with I am showing you our first meal on our first day.
I think you can see the corner of my husband's water glass.  But I had to take photo of our appetizer, because it was served with a orchid, and missed getting our drink in!  And then I forgot to take a photo of our scrumptious lobster rolls.  Wonderful buttery soft rolls with large chunks of lobster with a little mayo, and no other fillers.

This is the outside of where we ate in Ducktrap, Maine.

We ate in the little screened in addition in the back on the water.  It was so relaxing listening to the waves and being outside while we ate.

We didn't stop here, but had to get a photo of this giant lobster!  We had seen it on the way, and I wasn't ready with the camera, but made sure to get it on the way back!

This was our view from where we stayed in Belfast Maine on Penobscot Bay, after our visit with our son.

Oh, I did get a drink in a photo!  Every room in this inn has a view of the sea!  First thing I did was walk down to the water's edge!  Lovely view from this chair!

I watched the sailboats and even got some photos of people on kayaks.  Maybe I will find those for next time!

I will save some for another time.  I only took over a hundred photos, and was only gone 6 days! LOL

But I have done some crafting since I came back.  I also wanted to join Art Journal Journey this month for their theme A World of Fantasy. I had asked Elizabeth if I could submit a 12x12  scrapbook page entry, and she said I could.  I do want to get into journaling but right now am behind on my scrapbooking for the year.  So, most of today I worked on this layout.  The fantasy part is that the mural at the Nature center that I am standing in front of in the photo on the layout shows all of theses animals you might see.  My friend and I walked the trails, and we saw plenty of birds, thus the bird in red so it stands out, but  I don't believe we saw anything else.  So, that is the fantasy!  Maybe a stretch.  But it did inspire this layout.  Also, it inspired the title, you know the fairy tale musical, Into the Woods?  The journaling will be on a companion page of another walk with my friend.  Right now, I can't locate those photos!   I am going to link this up at  Art Journal Journey.

I used Heidi Swap  Art Screen ink through a TCW Aspen Trees stencil. Tried to show you the texture.

I used TH letter dies for the title and the animal dies were gifted me. I sponged them with Baha Breeze ink from SU! ( except for the bird)

I inked up a stamp from Lovely as a Tree from SU! with Mossy Meadow and then spritzed with water before stamping on the page.
