Happy New Year

4 Delight thyself also in the LORD;
and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
5 Commit thy way unto the LORD;
trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. Psalms 37:4-5

Last post, I named Snow.  I should have saved it for this week!  Here is what it looked like yesterday at our house.  I couldn't get the door open wide enough to take a good photo, and I couldn't take it through the glass as you can see.

Today after early temps and feel likes of 0 and -5, the sun is shining.  My husband who is elderly like me, went out the garage to begin shoveling.  He was standing there as the garage door opened, and surprise, there was our neighbor shoveling our driveway!  My husband asked, "what are you doing?"  He said, "helping you".  He did the whole driveway and most of our walk to our porch.  How wonderful!  Hubby did a little and cleaned off our porch.  Well, the neighbor is nice for sure, but also about 60 years younger than my hubby!  We haven't got to know them really well as they just moved in a couple of months ago.  I took them a plate of goodies at Christmas; I am sure glad I did!  Thank you, God, for good neighbors.  We live on the right side of the street, so with the sun shining, even though it is still 13 degrees out, it should hit that concrete and do some major melting.  I think we had over three and a half inches on ice, as it had rained and sleeted first.  So everything is closed here, and we had alerts on our cell phones to warn us not to get out on the roads!  So we are in for a while.  Temps are going to remain below freezing and with feel likes below 0!  So, we continue to leave cupboards open at nights under sinks and leave the faucets dripping!

Okay, enough about the weather!  Let's craft.  One thing about the weather being this way, can't go anywhere, can't go walking, so it is great for crafting.  I have been playing today.

I found this note I had taken when watching videos sometime, don't ask what video as I have no clue:

So instead of cleaning, which is what I had started out doing, I tried this technique:

So, first I looked in my gel print drawer and came up with this piece, which I thought was quite ugly, so I didn't think it would matter covered in black:

Then I found an old embossing folder that I wouldn't care if the black ink ruined it.  (it didn't, it washed off real easy)

I then inked it up with VersaFine Black Onyx ink.

I had cut down to size the gel print to run through in the embossing folder through with my Big Shot.

I don't think I got a photo of it after the black.  This photo shows after I ran white ink over the raised parts.

I glued to a turquoise base.  Then had to decide how to decorate.  I decided it looked masculine  card and I always need those.

I added a vertical greeting that someone had given me and added some chipboard from 49 and Market, my newest mania.  LOL

What do you think?  It sure improved on that gel print, or at least I thought so!  I will try again with different gel prints, (after all I have a drawer full on them!) and different embossing folders.

Today is TSFT over at Bleubear & Elizabeth's Altered Book Lover.  All you have to do is have a drink reference and you can join the t-party. (link to her blog and be part of the blog hop).

We went out for the first time in 2025 at Braum’s one of our favorites.

What we love about it is we get the combo, cheeseburger, fries and shake!  Their ice cream is wonderful!  My shake was peanut butter. Then despite knowing it was going to be record setting low temps, we bought ice cream to bring home, and we have been eating it! LOL He got Chocolate Carmel Moose, and I got Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup frozen yogurt.  So good!

Happy New year!  Thanks for stopping by.
Stay warm! Stay Safe!  Stay Crafty!

T Stands For Sanded Embossing Technique

Mark 16:6 KJV  "And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here:"

Good evening,  or to some morning.  I really want to share this technique from Splitcoaststampers Technique Challenge today. They have technique challenges every Monday, and lots of tutorials also on the site.   I am excited because you can use up some ugly gel prints with it!  I love to do gelli printing with stencils, and I love using every bit of the paint once I put it on the gel!  Sometimes, I have let the paint get muddy, I think, and that is why some of my prints are ugly.  That is why I love this new to me technique.

I made the card before I thought to show you the steps, so began with another piece just like the first piece so you could see the process.

Here is a piece of the print.  It doesn't look like a stencil was used, it  might have been one that I rolled a golf ball on, so we will call it 3D gel printing.  Ugly, right? LOL

This is the piece after I ran it through my big shot die cut & embossing machine with the Cuttlebug Divine Swirly embossing folder.  Looks a little better, doesn't it?

Looks even better after sanding the raised portions.  Be careful with this step, it is easy to tear the card stock.

The ugly gel print made a pretty good card, didn't it?  I think that I will be using this technique as I have a lot of pieces of gel prints to be used. Or you might just have some pieces of painted background you didn't know how to use.  I will try other embossing folders, too. Stay tuned to this channel and see what I do. :)

Supplies used:

Recollections white 65lb  card stock.

acrylic paints & Gel plate

Cuttlebug Embossing Folder

Sanding block

Stampin' Up Sincere Salutations stamp for the sentiment.

SU! Rich Razzleberry Cardstock & Ink

SU! flower punch

SU! gems

Gifted die, from Jan in Spain, I think.  Thank you Jan! :)

Glue dots,

Tombow liquid glue

dimensionals

I hope you like the technique and try it.  It was so easy and quick.

I submitted this project to the Technique Challenge on Splitcoaststampers as well as to CalvinBall Challenges over at ScrapHappy.com.

Since some will be celebrating Easter this Sunday, here is an Easter card for you.  This background was created with alcohol inks on plastic wrap, then aying the glossy card stock  directly on  the inks on the plastic wrap.  Then I just put on some blue cardstock and added some die cuts.

Here is one that actually says Happy Easter! LOL  The one below is with a digital that I colored with pencils.  It is from The Graphics Fairy.  I layered it on a Seaside embossed panel of Marina Mist card stock.  Both the paper and the embossing folder are from Stampin' Up.

Happy Easter!

Oops!  Here is my ticket for the tea party over at Altered Book Lover hosted by Bleubeard &  Elizabeth.

She calls it T Stands For Tuesday, and we all have a party and show and tell what we are doing all over a cup of tea or coffee or even a drink of water, whatever your choice of beverage is!  Be sure and stop by over there.

These are some of the teas that my sister sent me for my last birthday.  I am drinking the Moroccan Mint green tea today.  I like it.  Happy T Day to the T Gang!

TSFT I Am Back.....

My verse for the week:  Create in me a clean heart, God, and renew a right Spirit within me Ps. 51:10

Welcome to Tea Stands For Tuesday over at Altered Book Lover, hostessed by Elizabeth and Bleubeard!

Thanks to Elizabeth, I will do a post today.  I sometimes procrastinate, but Elizabeth needed me to post a message for all her TSFT readers, over at Altered Book Lover.

Elizabeth has internet problems and thought she would be up by now, but has been notified it will be a while before she is online again!  She had a friend update on her blog about her eye situation as if it were herself posting.  But in fact, it was her friend, because she has no internet!

Ok, so she has inspired (LOL) me to post for T Stands For Tuesday, something I haven't done for awhile!(

Here is my drink related post for the day.  I had lunch with a pot of tea, before starting this post.  I needed nourishment!
Lady Grey, one of my favorite teas, and also a cheddar cheese and sweet pickles on rye.  This is my pattern of dishes, Pfaltzgraf Folk Art, retired.  But not to worry, I have lots and lots of it!

With this "stay at home", I badly needed a hair cut, so  finally went last week.  Here are photos of my beautician's decorating for the 4th of July.

Beside her driveway

In front of her shop

by her front door

View from in front of garage to shop

I love this flag that was in her window

Parting shot as I left.

I hope you enjoy her decorations as much as I do.

Tea, photos, and now a craft!

This is made from a panel of a Geli Print made with acrylics and a stencil.  Then I used SU!  dies to die cut these dragonflies out of glitter paper, and  a Spellbinder tag die.  I used an oval punch to punch the sentiment which is from a retired SU! set.  I am grateful for you stopping by.

T Stands for Too Early and Dreams

II Cor 3:18 "But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the spirit of the Lord."

What do I mean too early?  I mean I got up at 5:00 A.M. this morning! Since I retired, I have not been a early riser, unless we are leaving for a trip or are  on a trip, because hubby gets up that early usually.  When you are in restricted space, like a motel room, or in a cabin on a ship, if one gets up, no matter how quiet he tries to be, I usually wake up that early!  Especially if we are driving.  He wants to leave early!  Anyway, back to this morning.  I felt so energetic that I started cleaning the blinds in my craft room.  I finally finished this afternoon, too.  It is a large window; 5x4 feet.  I cleaned slat by slat, because there is no way I could take them down and put them in the bathtub, like I did when I was younger! LOL  All done! Now I can do fun things like finish my Dream, wish, or imagine art journal page.

I wanted to show you what the prints I pulled earlier on my Gelli Plate.  Elizabeth, I wore plastic disposable gloves. Would that solve your problem of worrying about scratching it?  I just thought of you when I was making the prints.  I had originally been trying out my acrylic paints and throwing out the ones that were dried up.  Also, going down a rabbit hole, here dear readers, sorry.  I was purging for the craft garage sale.  I took a carload and trunk load over on Saturday, all priced with the stickers they provide with our own upc code on them.  So when someone brings a product to the register to pay, it credits to my account.  In the end, I have credit at the store to buy more! LOL  But they take care of the hassle for a small percentage and fee.  Love it.  I have done this for several years now.  I think we are just trading around our stash!  Our credit can't be used for garage sale items, only items that the store sales.  Okay, sorry about going down that rabbit hole!

Here are my Gelli prints:

The top the card stock I put over the stencil on the gelli plate, and the bottom one is the cardstock I put over the gelli plate and pulled after removing the stencil.  I think they call it the shadow print.

Here is a photo of all of them drying:

I think the stencil is on top of the deli paper I used today on my art journal page.  The deli paper was my wipe off page, where I cleaned the stencil and rolled the ink off my brayer.  I didn't think to photograph it by itself, as I didn't know then how  I was going to use it.

Below are the different ones I made cut into card size so they will be ready to use as backgrounds.

So, just so you know how I do it.  I dab the acrylic paint colors on the gelli plate, then dab on some Golden Open, so it keeps the paint from drying to fast, because I use cheap acrylic paint, Folk Art from Michaels, and on sale.  LOL  Anyway, then I roll it out with my brayer, lay on my stencil, then put on my cardstock or whatever paper you want to use.  Then I pull that, and the stencil, lay another paper on.  You can keep laying papers on till nothing comes off, towards the end is when I put on the deli paper.  You can even do a print over a print you have done earlier.

I don't need to get my plate out very often because as you see I get a lot of prints just from a couple of applications of paint.

Below you can see the first print on top and the shadow print below.

Here I think the shadow print is on top and the main print on the bottom.

Main print on top, secondary or shadow print below.  Either one are pretty and can be used for a background.

And here is my art journal page for  *Art* Journal* Journey* where Eileen of the Artful Crafter is our guest host for October.

I used a deli paper from the leftover paints on the geli plate.  I applied it to a journal page in my Canson 7x10" Mixed media  book. It is my 8th Journal page in this book I started several years ago! LOL  I applied Gesso to the page and then lay on the deli paper.  I then stamped the dream stamp from Natural Beauty by SU!.  I also stampede with the fairy and branch from Crafters Companion.  I added some oxides and sprayed with water around the edges, and colored the fairy's wings with Wink of Stella, clear. I added the metal imagine and with brads on a dimensional. The trouble with the Gelli prints, is you don't want to cover them up, they usually turn out so nice!  That is why I didn't do a lot on the page. Thanks Eileen for challenging me to play! :)  Because that is what I do, play.  I have no idea how to art journal! LOL

And last I want to link up with  Elizabeth & Bleubeard  over at Altered Book Lover for T Stands For Tuesday!
We went out big today and used our coupons at Wendy's.  I got my salad and hubby got his double burger combo, so he had coke, but I had water.  We were going to use our coupons for buy a double dip and get a double dip free at Baskin - Robbins, but they had lost power and were closed. :(  Next time.

So, that is my post, today.  Thanks for stopping by!   Waving to the  T gang.  I hope you have a great T Day.

T Stands for Time for Scrapbook Retreat Again!

"You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness" PS. 30:11 Memory verse for Week 6 of Revive Our  Hearts Esther Bible study.

I had a busy week last week and another coming up.  Almost forgot it is time to post for TSFT!  I love to join the tea party every week, but it sure comes around quickly!

I played with my Gelle plate back in August making prints with 3-d objects, instead of stencils.  Not pictured are some prints I made with a golf ball! LOL  I thought I had a photo, but can't find it.  You just put acrylic paint on your plate and then make a pattern randomly with an object. Then put your paper on for prints.  I love doing this!  I get many great backgrounds!

So here s a card I made with the print on which I used the golf ball.  I thought it was so pretty I didn't want to cover it up!  I used a Downton Abby frame die on it, and then added a Happy Birthday
die cut on it.  I tried to match the cardstock to the paint used.  The cardstock is Kiwi Kiss and Bermuda Bay from Stampin' Up and the the white base is from Michaels, 110 lb. Recollections White.

I have been packing up for another Scrapbook Retreat this week-end to a town near here, but far enough away to be getting a way! :)  Thursday thru Sunday.  I am taking several projects to work on; Christmas gifts, Scrapbook, and maybe some cards, too.
What is nice about the getaway, is our hostess prepares all the meals!  All I have to do is visit with the other 11 participants, craft, go walking if I want!  Very nice!  And I usually come back with lots of finished projects, too.

I have packed up my craft items, and my cup too.  4 bags, my ikea tray and what is on it.
Then, a small bag of clothes, another tv tray, oh, and my laptop, phones, iPad, camera, a bag of snacks, night clock, fan, my electric tea kettle,  oh, my goodness, the list goes on and on.
When I leave, my car will be full!  You would think I was moving!  But when I get there, I am always amazed that others take at least 4 times more than I take.  I mean some even take extra tables!  You just want to make sure you have what you need, when you need it.  Oh, and sometimes we even make Walmart runs for something we ran out of , or Walgreens to print photos.  I have mine printed, but if I need another one or two, I have my Cannon Selphy printer, which I didn't list above! LOL   Let's join Elizabeth over at Altered Book Lover for T Stands For Tuesday.  Or almost! ;)

I wish you all a great week!  Happy T Day to the T gang!  Thank you for stopping by!

T Stands For Time Going Too Quickly!

"You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness" PS. 30:11 Memory verse for Week 6 of Revive Our  Hearts Esther Bible study.

How does, TSFT  come so quickly every week?  I am not ready!  In fact I have spent my morning, after my 3 mile walk, ( it was a most gorgeous morning) looking first for  my driver's license and next, directions to a friend's house.
After at least an hour, the second time through my purse, I found the driver's license right where it was supposed to be, only stuck to the back of my Kohl's card.  After, at least a couple more hours, I found the directions, in my address book ( right where they s/b)!  By now, I thought I was doing pretty good: walk, breakfast, (baked oatmeal & cinnamon toast at hubby's request), found two supposedly lost items.
Then I remembered, my blog post was not ready!  So, appropriately, here I sit with my cup of Lemon lift tea, trying to remember what I did this week, that I can show you. I played with a  Gelli plate print and took some photo of it and the card I made with it, and already mailed. I think she should have it by now, in case she stops in.

1. Die cut a mask of a shape you want to use.
2. Lay it over a gel print.  I used one on which I had done with several different stencils.
3. Paint with drk color acrylic paint over the whole thing.
4. Remove mask.
5. Cut panel and make card.
6. I also, now have a navy dragonfly to use.
I think it is pretty the way the gel print shows through the wings of the dragonfly.

If you go to the Mix ability challenge on SCS on my sidebar you can find a tutorial for this by Understand Blue for what she calls Faux Reductive Technique.

Here I cut it down and put on a white card base (Recollections 110 lb) and added a die cut Happy Birthday, which was gifted me.  I don't actually have the die, but a friend sent me some.

That is what I did last  week as far as being crafty. I forgot to show photos of my anniversary from the third.  We went out to eat at one of our favorite comfort food places, and also visited a Vets Memorial Walk.  I think my camera quit working, because I can't find the photos I took!  But here is one I took at home of my anniversary roses, my hubby surprised me with a few days before.  There were twelve, but by the time I took this, some were gone.  Evidently, red ones don't last as long as the peach, yellow, and pink, because they are the ones that drooped first.

I hope you liked the technique.  I love trying new to me techniques.
I wish the T Gang over at Elizabeth's Altered Book Lover a wonderful TSFT! Head over there is you don't know what T Stands For Tuesday is all about.  Join the tea party if you want too; you can even have coffee or any other beverage you like.

Thank you for stopping by.

T Stands For Toilet Paper Technique!

"Who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" Esther 4:14   (Week 4 Scripture Memory for Revive Our Hearts Esther Bible study)

Good afternoon blog followers!  Happy Labor Day to those in the USA and in Canada.  It is so quiet around here.  This morning there was no traffic out when I took my walk.  So nice!  Since we are retired, and our family lives far away, we have no special plans.  However, tomorrow, we will celebrate 53 years of marriage!  We have a special walk planned and maybe out to eat. I will share that next week.

I am joining Try It On Tuesday with a couple of projects for their In My Garden Theme.
For this card I began with a gelli print.  I stamped right on it in Memento Tuxedo Black and die cut with Sizzix stamps and dies.

Next I used a scrap of  paper, that I think I had sprayed with Memory Mists for another project.  I thought it looked the color of clay pots, and I wanted to paper piece them on my project.  You can see here where I had already die cut the pots out.

Next I used a new technique for a Alpha Challenge on SCS to use toilet paper or the roll somehow on your project.  I put this toilet paper right on the ink pad to ink it up and then applied it to my card base for a background for my cacti, which by the way were in my rock garden at a previous home.  I thought this added some great texture.

This is the result.  This is my first submission for Try It On Tuesday.  Also, I will submit it for the Technique challenge for our Alpha Challenge, and the Featured Stamper Challenge on SCS.  I cased a lovely card by asweetjewel aka Julie.

Close up to show the little cacti and their pots.

Close up to show the texture and gel pen detail.

I hope the recipient likes her free hugs.  :)

My second project for In My Garden theme  for TIOT is this little bookmark/tag which I am also submitting for our Stamp2Spend Challenge on Splitcoaststampers.

This was an image stamped on one of the tags I did last week with the sanitizer and oxide inks.

I played with some die cuts from SU! Stylish Stems Framelits dies.  I finished with gel pen accents and fiber.

Now for my drink related post for TSFT over at Altered Booklover, where Elizabeth hosts this Tea party!

In July we had a ladies Bible study luncheon.  I just loved their decorations and discovered a new tea and just have to share it with you.  Those little suitcases are so adorable, and everyone had a different teacup!

Downton Abbey Tea!  I didn't know they had such a thing!  But of course it just makes since!
And I loved it.  I guess they have several flavors, too.  This was a Christmas one.  I even love the container! :)

Have a great week.  Happy T Day to the T Gang!  Thank you so much for stopping by.  I love to hear from you, too.

Getting Dirty & Inky and What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #479

Phi 4:4  "Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice."

Welcome to my Blog!  I am getting very inky  taking part in Dare To Get Dirty Challenges this week on Splitcoaststampers.  This is a week long party of challenges that the Dirty Dozen hosts for us Fan Club members on Splitcoast.  They do this every year and it is so fun!  I usually use supplies and items that I have forgotten about, because of the challenges.  I learn new techniques, and just enjoy myself in general!  Hubby helps out a lot during this time as far as dishes, and meals.  We think up easy ones ahead of time.  That is what I am doing.  Here is what my desk looks like, and also a couple of photos of what it looked like when I was doing prints with my Gelli Plate.  Oh, why am I showing you this?  Because on Wednesday's we show our desks and hook up over at Stamping Ground.  You can check out  other desks out as well as show your own.

Having my morning tea as well as finishing yesterday's challenges, because there are 6 more today!

Love the prints I got off of the plate with the green paints, just kept putting more paper on!  Then did one with the purples, but I like the green tones better.

As you can see, I had a mess!  But it certainly was fun!

Thank you for stopping by.  (I will show you all the cards next week.  I think there will be over 40 cards when done!  So, stay tuned.)
Happy WOYWW!
