" Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance." Psalms 33:12 KJV
Today in the U.S. we are celebrating our 246th year of the publication of our declaration of independence from Great Britain in 1776. We usually celebrate with family gatherings, and firework displays. Personally, we have no family near here, so it will be just the two of us, and we will watch firework displays on TV. Another way we did celebrate was to sing patriotic songs in church this week, and we listened to a wonderful rendition of The Battle Hymn of the Republic by one of our pianists. I always get teary eyed as soon as I hear the first few notes. Yes, I am thankful for my country.
Here is some 4th of July cards I have created either this year or in the past:
I think this image is from a local stamp store Mrs. O'Leary's aka Artful Illusions. She makes her own stamps. I purchased them as just pieces of rubber. |
The image is also from Mrs. O'Leary's aka Artful Illusions from years and years ago! |
I actually used this for an anniversary card for someone whose anniversary is on the 4th of July! |
This past week, I was invited to tea by someone I met on my trail. She served Indian tea, which I loved! I have to find out what it was. It was spicy and strong, just the way I love it! She served it with biscotti and a confetti Bundt cake, all delicious. There were three of us and we enjoyed hearing the birds sing and taking a tour of her gardens. It was a very enjoyable morning chatting and getting to know these ladies.
I hope you enjoyed a little 4th of July with me as well as tea in the lovely setting.
Thank you for stopping by. Happy T Day, (a little early).

Hubby made us a nice breakfast then was off to play golf.. We have no family near.. nor friends really.. so it tends to be just another day.. Hugs! deb
Your 4th of July cards are beautiful Sharon. And how fun to meet people on the trail and then go for tea. Was it chai tea? It looks like a lovely patio to have tea on also. Happy T day and I hope you had a wonderful holiday. hugs-Erika
How wonderful to have new friends, Sharon - especially ones with pretty gardens and great Tea. Happy 4th and Happy T-day. Love your patriotic cards! Hugz
What a joyous post! That photo of the stairwell outdoors is very trippy.
I LOVE Mrs. O'Leary's. I remember seeing that first image when I was looking through her stamps. Your cards are lovely and I adore how you used the dies on the first one.
Goodness. That is a lovely home and garden. At first, I thought it was your place. Wonderful that you met someone on the trail and became friends with her. That tea sounds great. I wonder if the Spice Merchant sells anything like it.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful patriotic cards and your tea with friends for T this week, Sharon. I almost called you today.
So nice you can celebrate. Germany sure can not. Love the pics of the stairs, lovely. Happy T-Day.
Great stamps and lovely cards. I have a grandson born on the 4th of July, so I don't easily forget his birthday. He was 8 this year.
What a beautiful garden! I bet you enjoyed your visit. The tea sounds a bit like Chai tea. (Which is spicy) It is also our favorite, but I admit we drink it mostly in winter.
Happy T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca
What a lovely place for tea and what a lovely way to serve tea. A tour of the gardens would make it even more perfect :) Happy T Tuesday!
That is a very beautiful garden and the setting for the tea looks very inviting. How nice to have tea there - the way you describe it is just beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
The gardens look like the perfect setting for a tea party. Happy T Day
I love your 4th of July cards. What a lovely setting for your afternoon tea. Happy T Day, Chrisx
Love your patriotic cards. I get teary eyed as well when I hear patriotic songs. Our children's choir at church sang a patriotic medley, said a few verses and recited the Pledge of Allegiance. It was very majestic when the whole church stood and sang the Star Spangled Banner with the children.
Sounds like Chai tea. What a fun teatime!
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
Beautiful blog
Beautiful patriotic cards you've made. How wonderful to get together and share a cup of tea. It's nice to know we are now able to venture out a bit. Still, COVID is rearing its little tail around here with cases on the rise. Stay healthy.
Beautiful garden. The painted stairway is really neat. I'm sorry you had to spend the 4th without family. We are lucky that we have a total of 8 family members for holiday celebrations (which I showed on my blog).

Thanks for your comment on my blog. As for your question about my postcard, No, I don't know the person who sends me the card. I am part of an organisation called Postcrossing (www.postcrossing.com). It works like this:
Create an account on the website (it's free). You need to provide your address so that you can receive postcards back.
Request to send a postcard. Postcrossing selects a random member for you to send a postcard to. Their address and some profile details are shared with you. A Postcard ID is also provided: that's an unique code (eg. US-12345) that identifies the postcard that you are about to send.
Write a postcard to that postcrosser and make sure to also write the Postcard ID on it. That's it — now all you need to do is post it just like any other postcard. Don't forget the stamps!
The card arrives to its destination - hurray! The other postcrosser registers it, using the Postcard ID written on the card.
Once a postcard you have sent has been registered, you'll be eligible to receive a postcard! It may take some time for it to be delivered, but as soon as your postcard is registered, another random user will send a card to you. Once you receive it, register it on the website so they will be selected to receive one next!
You can send several postcards at once, and the more you send, the more you will receive back.
I hope this explains how it works. I have been doing it for more than 10 years. At the moment there are 800,000 members in 207 countries. Many countries issue stamps about Postcrossing. I feature one on tomorrow's blog post (Friday 8 July).
hugs,
Lisca
