T Stands for Technique

Phi 4:4  Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

Welcome to my Blog. Today I am joining the Tea Gang over at Altered Book Lover, where we all celebrate T Stands For Tuesday with a drink related post.  But first, I wanted to show you a twist on an old technique that Lydia over at  SplitcoastStampers showed us.   And then we were challenged on the Mix-ability Challenge to let our shaving cream oxidize before making our prints.

Step one:  put shaving cream on plate.  Step two:  drop some re-inker ink into the mix and swirl around.

I used SU! Bermuda Bay, Emerald Envy and Dapper Denim re-inkers.

Step Three:  Have patience.  Leave for several hours.  So I did the first two steps and then left home all day.

Here is the plate of shaving cream with ink on it, and how it looked when I got home.  I wish I had thought to take a photo before to show you the difference.

By the time I came back I had forgotten about the process.  I just happen to go into my craft room and saw the plate.  Wow, it had little bubbles all over it.  I just started making prints and couldn't quit!

I got a couple of dozen prints!  I made one card so far.  This was the darkest and the first print off the plate.  Notice all the bubbles?

Now for the drink related part of the post:

I thought this was prefect for the Tea Gang!

Took a photo at the end, when I remembered!  We only sit there about 2 1/2 hours and visit! :)  My purse even made it in the photo.

Just in case you want to know my favorite color!
Thank you for stopping by!  I enjoy doing these posts for the tea party every Tuesday!
Oh, Elizabeth so glad you got your ATCs and liked them.

I want to try this technique Sharon, but I am completely lost. I have made hundreds of shaving cream papers, but I've placed the shaving cream on a cookie sheet or in a cake pan, then after pulling several papers, had to add more reinkers. I take it you place the paper on the top of the bubbly shaving cream and just keep putting down more papers until there is no more ink left on the plate. Is that it, or am I missing something?

I a NOT a stamper and people laugh when I show them how many reinkers I have, but no stamp pads. Like this technique you used, I use reinkers for things other than stamping. I use the staz-on reinkers to dye fabric. Please let me know if I have the technique right and I will try it, too.

It's been FOREVER since I was in Panera. I thought that tea saying was perfect, too. Sounds like you enjoyed your time there and had good company and good tea. I hope you saved the hot drink sleeves, too. They make great art. And YES, I LOVED my ATCs and the lovely gifts, too. I had NO idea that cat was a punch.

Thanks for sharing your tutorial, your art, and your tea at Panera with us for T this Tuesday, or nearly Tuesday. Gosh, I wonder what your favorite color is (DUH!).

That's a fun technique you used with the foam. I used to do similar things with the kids at school. Have a great T Day, hugs, Valerie

Hi Sharon I do love the shaving foam technique, used to do this all the time with the preschool children at playgroup/kindergarten. They loved it and it smells so nice hee hee!! Fabulous backgrounds with each one being a unique piece of artwork.
Happy T Day Hugs Tracey xx

What fun to revisit this technique! However, I didn't let it sit to get bubbles. I used to teach a class on marbling using the shaving cream and inks- and I still have some marbled tags to use:) Fab backgrounds, card and sparkly nails:) Love the tea related frame too. Happy T day!

Wow, I loved seeing the shaving foam technique! I've never done this myself as I think I would get so so messy ...lol 😉. Once you've made the prints, do you just leave it to dry? The colours and bubbles look so amazing and I love the card you created 😀. Your nail varnish is beautiful too, I love all the sparkle! Great quote - Happy T Day! J 😊 x

Thanks for the fabulous tip about shaving cream prints, Sharon. I love the sea life card. Look at all those little bubbles!

Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen

P.S. Cute purse. Our condo is named Las Palmas so I'd love to find one like that.

Yes, let the prints dry completely. When dry you can wipe off anything left, but mine all dried, nothing to wipe off. I believe on the original technique, you scrape off right away, so this is really different than the original technique.

Wow! What a fun technique. I had heard of it but i have never tried it as I have no re-inkers. I bet it smelled lovely too. Your papers are beautiful and so is the card.
I presume green is your favorite colour? My hubby too loves green. I have to be careful, if he had his way everything in our house would be green.
Happy T-Day,
Lisca

You are right, Elizabeth, I just kept putting more paper on, till o got tired of doing it as long as there was some color coming off on the paper. Sometimes toward the end I would swirl the color on the edges into the center. Also, others have said if they still had cream left they added more color and waited another five hours. One person said when they were done making prints they left the plate out and it had made more bubbles when they returned to it. So if you use all the bubbles part off the top, it sounds like it will do it again. I hope you try it.

that's a very cool technique. The colors are fabulous and the undersea theme for the card is perfect. I'm glad I'm not the only one that sometimes forgets to take a before foodie picture. Happy T Day
