What's On Your Workdesk 316 Wednesday? and Scrapping

Col. 3:16-17 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus giving thanks to God  and the Father, by him.

Good morning, fellow deskers!  I might get this posted earlier for a change.  So fun to visit you and I enjoy when you stop in to see my space and comment.  I have been trying to scrap a two page LO from my Brittish Isles trip, for two days now!  And today I might get it done! Hopefully it won't take me this long to do the whole album!   This is my  desk as it  has looked for the last two days.

Another project I have been working on is trying to organize all my 12x12 papers.  On Pinterest I had pinned a video about how to organize your papers by putting together colored cardstock and prints that would match.  Whenever you would want to do a page you woud have the papers already together and not have to hunt.  Well, I think she had only about 50 papers she was working with, whereas I  have hundreds.  So one picture shows you my small start in this momunental endeavor.  Tell me, if you are a scrapbooker, have you attempted this process?  What do you think about doing it this way?

I seem to be stuck on getting this layout done.

I put 4-6 papers of like colors and patterns together in 12x12 page protectors.  A very small start to my huge stash!

Thank you for stopping by!  If this WOYWW is new to you check out Julia's Stamping Ground  for all the details and to see some more desks.  It is really fun to hop around to all the desks and see what crafters are doing all over the worldl  Have a great week!

  1. Hi Sharon, happy WOYWW. Lovely when your mojo is on a roll and you can finish some pages but as far as organising your paper/card that will be a BIG job...I have drawers sorted into colours which helps a bit...I might post them next week Cheers and have a great week RobynO#18

  2. Not a scrapper so no comments re that from me but I do like what you are doing.
I have two technique journals going and my interest waned on those too - but I am now determined to go back to one of them and begin using some of my old paints up as I just have too many and need the room.
Thanks for the visit to me earlier.
    Hugs, Neet 10 xx

  3. I keep my papers "organized" in envelopes by themes (holidays, vintage, solids, etc). I also like to reorganize from time to time, because it helps me remember what I have and gives me a new perspective on how to use my materials. As to your current page, I would set it aside and start on a new project. This helps me get a fresh perspective when I get back to unfinished projects. Anyway, these are just suggestions of what works for me. Have a blessed week, my friend!

  4. Sharon, during my scrapping phase I really did start organizing my papers that way... but, as I mostly make cards, what I have found is, I am getting into those packs and either stealing the cs or stealing the paper out of it... so, although I have not removed all those plastic sheets protectors from my storage I no longer put them together that way. I do have a separate longaberger basket that has actual Kits I made up with photographs in some of them. maybe someday I will go back through them again and see what is in there but, for the most part as lumpy as my cards are my pages tend to be more clean and simple so. I probably will end up ditching the "themed" papers into cards eventually. ~Stacy #49

  5. My papers are in colours in 12" baggies , The thought of reoranising them gives me palpitations - So WELL done on that. I do think your way will be better to get them used up. At the weekend i was crafting next to a lady who had "bagged up" photos and papers ready for a page and she did 15 pages over the weekend! I was very impressed.

  6. I'm not a scrapbooker but I can see the advantage of keeping papers that work well together next to each other. That way you don't have to hunt so much for them. My advice is store your papers the way you would look for them. That's how we were taught to file back in secretary school. For the longest time I kept all my paper pads together because that is how they came and then matching papers were right there bound together. But I think in seasons... so if I needed something summery I had to look in all the pads because you just never know what they would have in them. Now my papers are stored by season and I don't worry so much about the matching/coordinating part. If it truly matches/coordinates then it will be in the same box. I have a friend who sorts but tiny patterns, large patterns, stripes, dots, and abstract. That's because when she's crafting that is how she thinks. I have another friend who does totally about color. Greens in one places, reds in another. Judy #50

  7. Thank you for your visit today, Sharon, and your lovely comments. Not all of the parchment is using the plates from the Groovi system. In fact, the vase of flowers was from a downloaded picture from Clarity, which I transferred to the parchment using the white pencil. The border was from one of the border plates which just speeded up that bit of the process. Hope you are getting on well with your paper sorting. I have very few papers, just lots of different colours of base card and lots of white and cream card. Have a great week. xxx Maggie #8

  12. Hi Sharon thanks for visiting! You asked about the montage pictures I had of Bergen. I use a free download programme called Photoscape. One of the options is called Pages & lets you do all sorts of combinations. Looking forward to seeing your layouts when they are finished ! Ali #4

  13. Hi Sharon, I am a scrapbooker and I have the same problem: hundreds of 12x12 papers! I keep them in colour groups. I think what you're doing is a good idea. Putting together papers that go together plus a few embellishments thrown in. I used to do that before going to a crop. It saved me having to bring everything bar the kitchen sink to the venue. So good for you for getting organised. It will be a lot of work but you get to see what you have and once in the bags, you can pull one out and do a page in less than an evening.

  15. I'm so sad that I left you a really long post about sorting paper and I guess Blogger ate it. Basically I said sort things how you look for them. If you look for things by pattern "this needs stripes" then sort that way; by color "this needs green" then sort that way; if you like coordinating papers then sort them that way. Everyone is different and what works for one may not for someone else. And feel free to change as you do. That's my advice. Off to a dull meeting now. Judy

  17. Hope you get to work more on your British Isles scrapbook. I hope we see layouts as you get them finished. I do try to do some scrapbooking, but as you I also have hundreds of papers and pads and tons of cardstock. No way I could ever get them all organized. Good luck with your challenge.

  18. I am curious to know what all of those scalloped circles are for? I have heard of that technique or similar. Putting coordinating DP and cardstockmtogether for layouts. I have never tried it though. I have my DP by category. Kids, Christmas, Halloween, travel, etc etc. except my BasicGrey papers. I have them stored by collection with all the Christmas together. Solid CS is by color and within each color by dominate color lightest to darkest). So reds would have all the red-oranges together, red-blues together etc. if that makes sense! I'd have to post a picture.

  19. Go you on keeping up with your scrapbooking of the trips! I can't wait to get and sit with you to see them in person.... someday ;-)

I dont know if I could pre - pair my DP with CS. However, I know that SU is doing that now with some of their DP. I'm just more of a play it by site kind of gal when I'm creating. Yet I outline my novels. Go figure! LOL ~Creative Blessings!
