Happy New Year! & What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday 448

Ps. 90:12 "So teach us to number our days,
that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom."

Happy New Year! I think the above verse is my Bible verse for January.  I pray my days will count for the Lord. What's your motto for the first month of 2018?

Lots of changes coming this year! The first change is changing from hostess of the Scraplift Scrapbooking Challenge to the  hostess of the Stash Buster Scrapbooking Challenge on SplitcoastStampers.  We all need change, and this is a fun one.  If you want to bust your stash head on over to my challenge STASH18JAN 01/02/18.  I will tell you in the future of the other changes going on.

Right now, since I didn't post to tell you Merry Christmas, I will show you all the homemade cards that were sent to me for Christmas by my crafty friends!  Cards full of good wishes, encouragement, and inspiration! I really hate to take them down and put them away.  What do you do with handmade cards friends send you?  I started a notebook, but it is full, already.

Julia asked if any of us are working on next year's Christmas cards.  I am!  I have two done out of a goal of 66.  I joined a challenge group on SplitcoastStampers where we set a goal of so many a month for 11 months.  Mine is 6 a month.  Last year at 4 a month, I came up short.  What that amounts to, is that everyone pretty much gets a unique card from me.  Sometimes, I may make 4 a like, but generally all different. So what about you?  If you are a card maker do  you make Christmas cards all year or just last minute?

Well head on over to Julia's to see more crafters.  It is all about sharing what is going on in our craft rooms and we meet crafters from all over the world.  Julia is our hostess.  Why not join us this year?

Thank you to all my crafty friends for all my beautiful Christmas cards!

My sample for the Stash Buster Challenge: using TH stickers and older stickers, TH letter dies, MFT Die-namics World Traveler Accents dies.  The DP is SU! and Recollections CS.  SU! Swirly dies.  All was in my stash. My challenge to myself and others is to  use what I have this year and not buy new things.  I already have new things from last year that I haven't used yet!

Thanks for stopping by!  Thank you for your encouraging comments, too.  I appreciate every one of them.

  2. Happy New Year Sharon. I agree with that verse - it has been my thought this January, too! What beautiful handmade cards you have received. I save all the handmade ones and have a VERY full photo album with pockets. Each one goes in with a brief explanation of how it was made. However... I need a new album! so have a lot to catch up on. I'm not really in to scrap booking, but I must pop over and look at your new challenges.
    Take care. God bless you.

  4. Hi Sharon, Happy New Years!
I bought an old window frame that still has the glass in it, Hubs claims its "easy" to remove the glass (without tossing a hammer through it haha) and just has not done it yet. but, the intention is to add chicken wire to the holes once the glass is out and hang it on the back of the studio door so I can hang cards from friends for longer and rotate them out type thing. ( but, right now all of them are in a box in the closet because, I don't have a flat space to display them on) Yep, mine is "always" 4 a month and I do more some months and hardly none during the summer but, I try to tweak my Featured Stamper cards to Christmas designs to have one "change" right off the bat and end up with piles of One of kind cards. I pretty much make them all year though so. I will look for the stash busters thread. I don't know if I have sen that one before. ~Stacy #27

  8. Hi Sharon. I always think that now is a good time to start making Christmas cards while you are still in the mood but always seem to get distracted. Finally I would like to wish you a great woyww and a very Happy and creative New Year, Angela x15x

  9. That's a lovely verse, my 'motto' is just to enjoy what I have. This relates to crafting too. I need to use what I already have before buying more. Lovely cards.

  10. What a beautiful array of cards you got, wish now I had photographed mine. Not sure I will keep up with the making but I will try - mine will be batch cards though. I am worried if I do several designs I will send the same one to the same person the year after.
Happy New Year, Neet 2 xx

  11. Happy belated WOYWW! I love all the cards you received, as well as the card you made; stash-busting is a great goal! I make batches of 12-16 cards the same; and despite my best attempts, they don't get started till Oct! Now that I'm doing craft shows, I really need to not let that slide. Thanks for stopping by, have a great week.

  12. Lovely cards! I usually keep my favourites and just put them out again the next year, I also frame some of them and put them in my downstairs powder room for Christmas. I am a last minute card maker, luckily I don't have that many to make! Have a wonderful 2018, Lindart #27

  13. Love your challenge, your link didn't work for me, I am in one of my Groups but we don't have a number, it just reads 'some' - that suits me.
Lovely selection of cards on show.
    Take care

  15. You have received some lovely cards there! Your scrapbook is very nicely done. I need to get some pages done this year...
I came short this year too with my Christmas cards...So I need to work a bit harder this year getting more done through the year.
I select a word for the year. I'm going to pick the same motivation word for this year that I used for last year..."Breathe" I'm always such an anxious person...and the word is to remind to just stop take a deep breath and relax!

  16. Hey Lady! Great collection of cards & layout! I'm on your stashbuster but not sure how I'll do until Spring. But I'm there.
How do I store my cards? Right now they are in 6x7 manila envelopes by year. I . just bought binders from Totally Tiffany. I'm just trying to figure out how to create signatures out of them so I don't have to poke holes in the cards. Keeping them is important IMO.. I never thought about it until I got a Christmas card from my brother one year... he never sent Christmas cards nor wrote in them himself. The following spring, he was killed in a trucking accident. Now I save every one at Christmas time.

I had almost all of my cards made last year. I'm on the Christmas Card Challenge this year, too. I need 20 per month. I'll be starting them this week with the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown challenge. Come join us! Button on my blog.

    Hugs!
    Kel

  17. Hi Sharon, it has been awhile since I visited your blog. You must have a TON of artsy friends, because you got some fantastic ones.

In reference to Sweet Basil, yes, I have been numerous times. However, did you know they had a fire and completely changed their restaurant? The last time we went, we vowed to never go back. Here is the most recent post from Oct., 2015:

    http://alteredbooklover.blogspot.com/2015/10/t-stands-for-sweet-basil.html

Contrast that with this post, where I show only a few photos of before the restaurant burned dowm:

    http://alteredbooklover.blogspot.com/2014/06/t-stands-for-catch-up-photos-part-1.html

Contrast the first buffet photos from 2015 and these:

So Sweet Basil became one of those restaurants that fell out of favor in my book.

To answer your question, yes, you post at your blog, just like at WOYWW. Then link on my blog. If it isn't obvious, please reference your drink somewhere in your post and, if you think of it, please leave a link back to my blog, too.

I'm so glad you are following along on my blog. I don't feel I'm making very good art lately, so the fact you are sticking with reading my posts makes me feel happier than you can imagine. Any other questions, please feel free to ask.

  18. Forgot to mention, you may title your T Stands For Tuesday post ANY way you choose. Most people add T somewhere in their posts, but some don't always include it in the title. It's totally up to you. ANYTHING is acceptable, as long as it includes or eludes to a drink. One lady makes the most beautiful art journaling using tea bags. I really LOVE her art and she occasionally shares it with us for T.
