T Stands For Typing Is Difficult!

Ps. 51:10 "Create in me a clean heart, God, and renew a right spirit within me."

I am feeling so much better I thought I would post, even though  I still have casts on!  Believe me it is difficult to type! The good thing is I am no longer in pain, unless all this blogging and also pie making bring it on!  Yes, feeling so good,I baked  a pecan pie!

Oh, if you don't know, while visiting our daughter at Christmas  we went walking and I fell and broke both my wrists.  The broken wrists broke my fall and saved my head!  They took me to ER, where they took X-rays and wrapped them, and gave me a prescription for  pain pills.  Coming home on the plane with cast on one side past the elbow, and in a sling, and the other in a cast to the elbow made for an uncomfortable trip.   The day after New Years, I had surgery on both.  They implanted plates and screws in both, and put me in heavy white casts. For about three weeks, I couldn't do anything!   Several weeks later they took thoses off and put me in these black splints that I can take off when bathing, but have to wear all other times. Only in the last day or so have I felt well enough to almost be able to totally dress my self!  My dear hubby has had to do everything!  He made the comment that Winter is usually boring, but he has been too busy to notice this year!  Hopefully, I will start PT next week.  Right now, I can't unscrewn lids, and barely turn doorknobs.

What have I done, since I can't do anything and hubby does it all?  Reading books on my iPad!
I re-read Little Women, and all the Anne of Green Gable books.  I shocked my 16 year old granddaughter when I said  I prefer Anne of Green Gables!  I have watched lots of craft you tubes! The first few weeks, last of Dec. through part of January, when on pain pills I watched a lot of Hallmark movies!  I am now pretty sick of & reading!  I am ready to start crafting! okay, fingers are sore now!  So here is my post.

First pecan pie I have ever made!  I don't know what possessed me to do it today!

Of course, I made a mess!  I have this to look forward to cleaning, with casts on!

These are casts they put on me after surgery.

This is what I looked like after they cut the casts off.

And the casts/splints I have been wearing since.

Friends, several from our church brought in meals and flowers.

I felt loved when Kathy of the Ozarks sent this card.  Thank you!

Jan, Crafty Scoripo sent this lovely card!  Thank you Jan.

These are the first arrivals of a Tea Pot Party for me on Splitcoaststampers.  The theme was places to visit, in honor of my scrap albums of all our trips. One of these came all the way from France!   I love them.  I will show rest next time!

One friend has been sending me cards with nice newsy letters every week.  So sweet of her!

A lot of other handmade cards my crafty friends have sent me!  Aren't they all beautiful?
I am linking up at Bleubeard's  Elizabeths  for our TStands For Tuesday. The link is on my sidebar.  Come join the party!

Well, my fingers are wore out! I DO WANT TO PRAISE God for my wonderful, loving, caring, patient husband!  I could not have got through this without him! I praise God for all our friends who brought meals, and just did kinf tings for us. I praise God for healing!

Thank you for all the get well wishes you all posted on my last post!  You all cheered me!  Happy T Day!

  1. Oh Sharon. I remember you saying your had broken your wrists but I didn't realize you have been so out of commision. Although it does in a way sounds nice to read and relax but I bet it is also hard to sit still for so long. I am glad to hear you are recovering so well and good for you to make the yummy looking pie. I love pecan pie and a piece would sure taste good right now. Take care and I hope you just keep improving. hugs-Erika

  2. It's good to see you back, even if it's just to let us know your status. So glad you updated everyone. Goodness, Sharon. It looks like you tried to slit your wrists. What an ordeal. SO glad you are no longer in pain, though.

I haven't eaten today, so that pie looks really good. Even the mess in the oven looks good. Thanks for stopping by with your update and your mug of (tea?) something hot you shared with us for T this almost T Tuesday.

  3. Oh dear , Sharon, I did not realize just how bad your wrists have been. You poor thing. Bad enough to have one broken (I did once but it wasn't this severe) let alone both. It's times like these you really know what a loving community you have in family and friends. Your pecan pie looks just yummy. And oh what a beautiful array of cards you have received. That, reading and watching YT and TV are all good for the spirit. Careful you don't overdo things now that you're feeling better. Happy T day!

  5. Oh. Yes. That looks hurtful!
You did it right, having that pic taken!
Hubby wanted to to do that, too, when my arm looked like a Cordon Bleu and I refused. Now, when someone says, "ewww, ugly scars" I think, you hardly see them anymore and would like to have a pic of when they were fresh!
Luckily it was just one arm/hand, I can´t imagine to have to manage with none!!! Glad you´re back to typing and baking "and making messes ;-)"!
Beautiful cards, too! Happy T-Day and, well, take it slow...

  6. Hi Sharon, good to see you back with us again. That must have been a very nasty fall, and I can imagine how much pain and discomfort you have had. Glad your arms are now well on the mend. That pecan pie looks more than delicious, sooooo yummy. Glad your hubby and friends supported you so well. Happy T day, hugs, Valerie

  7. Welcome back! And praise God for the healing and for a loving husband. I'm so glad your wrists are better now. Thank you for updating us. I don't think anyone realized how debilitating it was to have both wrists out of action. You must be chomping at the bit to do something other than read and watch YT.
I am amazed at those lovely cards! How sweet and caring are your friends!
I am most impressed by your pecan pie! It looks delicious and my mouth waters as we speak. (It's lunch time here).
I am going to get ready to go out. Yes, we are going out for lunch today. I am looking forward to that.
Happy T-Day dear Sharon. And get better soon,
    Hugs,
    Lisca

  9. Sharon so good to see you back, I can’t believe the photos of your injuries, no wonder you were in so much pain.
I’m not sure how you actually managed to type with those splints on and how you managed to bake that delicious looking pecan pie, made my mouth water.
Pleased your card arrived, looks like you had plenty and such beautiful ones too.
Take care and don’t overdo it!!! Happy T Day

  11. Oh my, Sharon. I had no idea! Glad to see that you are on the mend. I can only imagine how that must have been for you. I've only broken a bone once and that was almost four years ago when I fell and broke my left arm. It didn't stop me from doing anything, but I do have residual effects from it. Your hubby is a great guy taking care of you all this time and taking care of all the chores around the house. I hope you are fully recovered soon.

  12. I'm so happy to see you back making a blog post. Don't push things too much, though, if you're having pain. The photos of your arms were a little scary to see: that looked very painful. I'm so glad your husband was there to help you with everything. And that you had so many thoughtful friends helping too. And the lovely cards people mailed to you were great, too. Hopefully the physical therapy goes well, and quickly. But again: don't push yourself. Your body needs to heal at the right pace, so follow their PT instructions. Happy Belated T-Day!

  13. Well done for baking that fabulous looking pecan pie! My goodness! I know that you had a lucky escape but those arms look painful! I'm sure you must be impatient for full recovery soon! You had some lovely surprises! Glad you got help from hubby, friends and family! Belated Happy T Day, Chrisx

  14. Catching up. Oh,my, poor you. Glad you are on the mend, but as other have said don't push it. Though I won't mind helping myself to a piece of that delicious pecan pie. 😊 Sounds like your healing is going well and that you have your husband to help. His comment about being too busy to notice the long Winter made me laugh. Take care and have a good weekend.
