What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #234 & EMS Scrap Sketch

Well, my workdesk is a mess, because I have been scrapping.  I even have stuff from last week still on here! Yikes!  You can see the yellow strip of CS that I tried to cut my letters out of.  It didn't work, too light weight, so I used some 12x12 SU!  Also, do you notice the 2 adhesives in lower left corner?  Well, they stopped working.  I have a whole sack of adhesive, that broke or quit working.  They are different brands.  Am I the only person that has difficulties with adhesive?
Also, in front of the Copics are some gift calendars I am working on. I stamped an image and am using the inks to water color.  There are some fun photos on there that I might incorporate on a card.   If you don't know what WOYWW is check it out at Julia's Stamping Ground.

WOYWW #234
A close up on my scrap page is below.  It is for several challenges:
SCS VSBN English Degree ( my Bachelor Degree)  We were to use a conversation bubble on our page.
Stash Busters Challenge:  We were to use two printed papers at least a year old, Epoxy sticker or put a shinny glaze over a sticker, ribbon slide, ribbon.
Even More Scrapping Sketch Challenge # 50

EMS Sketch # 50

Credits:  Printed Paper TPC Studio "School Days Alphabet Jumble"
Cardstock  So Saffron & Sage Shadow both SU!
Accessories:  SU! Alphabet Die, Certainly Celery Ribbon, Ribbon Slide from years and years ago!  Spellbinders leaf die.  Bubble sticker from Bernard J. Putt & Assoc 1985!
Yikes!! 1985! LOL    I thought it would be fun to use the letters and the negative of the letters on my page.

Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Psalm 103:1-2

And finally, wishing my friends in U.S. Happy Thanksgiving!  Here is a photo of the pumpkin that my husband and I are slaughtering tomorrow to freeze lots and lots of bags of pumpkin!  But I thought it would make a nice Fall photo. :)  We do this every year about this time and then bake and freeze lots of mini loaves and regular size ones for Christmas gifts.

Thank you all for stopping by!  Love your comments and getting to know you.  I am on my way to look at your spaces and to check out what you are doing!

  1. I am gradually whittling away my supply of glues and adhesives. Now I only use the ones that I am really happy with and I use those disposable roller ones for lots of things now. They are quite cheap and I don't mind how many I go through. Nice L/O with the kiddies all hard at work.
    Have a nice week.

  6. Great take on the sketch. Love how you used the alphabet cut-outs for the side piece, and your "genius at work" thought bubble is precious! And you also managed to incorporate the Stash Busters challenge. Wow, I'm impressed. Everything looks wonderful.

  8. Hi Sharon! I've tried all the adhesive out there and now stick with my ATG gun and buy the refill at unline.com and several of the Aleene products and of course mounting tape. I buy the Giant rolls of 3m for that!. I don't scrap , but I love your layout and yeah for homeschooling!! Have a great week! Ginny #19

  10. Your layouts are fab, but I love the pumpkin photo - that;s going to take a lot of carving to get it into cookable size chunks! Happy Thanksgiving. Helen 34

  13. Lovely lo - that background is an excellent complement to the photos of your studious kids and I love the pretty Autumn leaf and the letter strip. I have that die, but not yet an extending platform for it! Oh adhesives!!! I have had such trouble with that one, even though I only started serious crafting in March 2013. I think the right adhesive is the key to a really successful project, but can I find it? I was recommended E6000, but the wording on the tube terrifies me!!! Also it's so strong the lid on the last two tubes I bought is glued on tight so I can't even open my deadly little tube! Have a great day and a creative week! Julie Ann #55

  14. Great LO--we home school, too, so of course this really caught my eye. My children are older now, but the little desks, I still think they're just adorable.

Thank you for stopping by this woyww, Sharon, and thank you for the verse this morning. It's brought to mind a lovely song.
    Happy woyww to you!

  15. I had a glue pen bite the dust this week with lots of glue left in it too, makes me mad as I use it all the time and I hate waste too. Your desk is lovely and busy, great LO and I love the idea of the mini loaves made with fresh pumpkin. Thanks for stopping by already, and have a great Thanksgiving.

  18. My friend in America has been on the search (at CHA and everywhere she goes) for the 'perfect' adhesive. She hasn't found it yet. I like Aileenes and a Tombow one in a white plastic pyramid sort of container. Not sure how the Tombow one lasts though.
Love the way you have used those photographs.
Hugs and thanks for the earlier visit, Neet xx 23

  20. I also can't use that type of adhesive....I had a whole collections of many different brands...finally threw them all away, and vowed to never buy them again! I love wet glue and my ATC gun, now that I can use....but those little tape roller things..........ALWAYS BREAK. Nope, never buying another. I use wet glue anytime I can!

  21. Love your pages! So fun!
I used to bake pumpkin bread several time a year. every year. BUT, I haven't for a long time. However, I bought mini loaf pans to make some this year to give as gifts!! I just can't remember the conversion! How many "one loaf size batches" do I make for 6 mini loaf pans?
And, you get the WOYWW badge from Julia! She is super sweet that way!!

  26. i still think you're desk looks pretty good. for the last couple of weeks I have had so much paper and stuff on the desk that I lost 5 dies.hopefully they will show up. makes me look bad. most of the time know exactly where everything is
i haven't tried the atg yet. with wet glue i tend to use too much, not good and then you have to wait for it to dry. i still like my tombow mono. dont like their wet glue. too hard to get out of the bottle. one good thing is the bead of the glue is smaller. i like the stickiness of the thermo web but not the price for the amount you get. its little bitty for the price. i got mine on sale for 2.99 @ scrapfest

  29. As for adhesives, I am a huge fan of Yes! Paste, If it starts to dry up a little all I have to do is add a few sprinkles of water and let it sit a bit. I have also just recently found I like the Tombow liquid in a green and white container with two ends, nice for running quick, narrow lines. Nothing beats the secure adhesive-ness of the paste though. I use a cheap, plastic palette knife to spread it and I can get it real thin. And love that pumpkin photo!

  30. Hi Sharon, I am catching up with last week's WOYWW, thanks for visiting and I see you are still on last week so that is good!
Adhesives, I have probably two boxes of all different types, and I do have problems with them drying up in the nozzles, tubes splitting or drying up completely, a glue dot applicator I bought second hand which I cannot seem to aim right with, so I should send it onwards (is it because I am left handed?), and an ATC that I complained was designed for right handers, and so I have it with the ugly side towards me and cannot see where the tape is going unless I stand up, and not that well then! I complained to 3m who checked it out on some left handers and agreed with me but said they had no plans to make a left hand version did I want a refund? Well I got used to it and it is good in principal, I wonder about the one I bought my Mum, which looked the same both sides, a pink one, hmmmm.
Anyway I have DST, finger lift DST, the ATG (so I don't really need the DST except I just bought a load more in a deal, but it is in various widths so very useful), vellum dots, glue dots on rolls, on sheets, 3d glue dots, foam squares, circles, rectangles and sheets in various thicknesses, totally clear square "foamies", so many varieties of bottle glue, I see a new one I buy it! Non smelly silicone, smelly silicone and I found I got dermatitis from a split tube of the former which hasn't gone away for months, Decopatch, glittery Mod Podge, and latest Cosmic shimmer glue.....Great pumpkin btw and love the layout!

  31. Sorry it has taken me so long to get around to your blog. I really thought I had made the rounds last week, but doesn't look like it.

I too have issues with adhesive. I do love my Tape Runner, but it breaks at the least opportune time also. Mostly I stick to the 3M Double sided tape or I use the Scor It tape depending on what I'm using it for. I do have some of the small snail runners that I can use in a pinch.

Love your layouts btw. Glad that you were able to have a nice Thanksgiving.
